February’s flying by at Barley as we returned to Wallacespace St Pancras last week for our second B-Hive of the year! 🐝 We kicked things off with a company update before diving into an insightful BiteSize Learning session about neurodiversity in the workplace and maximising the potential of neurodivergent talent 🧠 After expending all that brainpower, it was time for a well-deserved lunch break before taking a moment to reflect on some of the brilliant campaigns we’ve already delivered this year 👏 Despite the cloudy skies, it was then time to bid farewell to February’s B-Hive with a trip to our client, Tower Bridge, who we’re working with on some exciting campaigns 🌟 #CommunicationsAgency #CommunicationThatMatters #LearningAndDevelopment #Neurodiversity #TowerBridge #London Kathryn Sullivan

What an inspiring afternoon at yesterday’s City of London Corporation's Clean City Awards, for which Barley’s co-CEO Sam Williams was a judge of the communication and engagement award. Entries this year were incredibly strong. It was inspiring to see so many organisations making headway with their sustainability communications and delivering positive impact as a result. Congratulations to all of the shortlisted companies and especially to the winners, Deutsche Bank. Sam said: “In a strong field, Deutsche Bank’s entry stood out for its innovative use of creative communications, such as their escape room challenge. Their approach covered a wide-ranging areas of environment impact and the results were clear and impressive.” #CleanCityAwards #CleanCityAwards2025 #Communication #Engagement #Sustainability

We were back in Cambridge this week to explore how communications can help facilitate and enable growth in the city. Sharpies 🖊️ and post-its were at the ready as we dived into the major projects that need to be delivered - and carefully communicated - in the coming years. A pertinent topic after last week’s visionary announcements by the Chanceller and the aspirations for Cambridge as a major part of Europe’s answer to Silicon Valley. Big thanks to WSP in the UK for hosting our strategic communications workshop 🙏 We’ve been working on sustainable transport programmes in Cambridge for a number of years - a selection of images below of Team Barley using some of the city’s Greenways 🚴🛴🏃 #communicationthatmatters #sustainabletransport #cambridge

Today’s report from the National Preparedness Commission written by Professor Tim Lang, warns that the UK’s food supply is at risk due to climate change, global instability and fragile supply chains, and calls for a shift from reactive food policies to proactive resilience planning. We’ve supported media outreach, highlighting the report’s important findings and recommendations in The Guardian and BBC Radio 4’s Farming Today. London’s budding young chefs are back! 👩🍳 Yesterday, secondary school pupils from four London schools showcased their cooking skills at Borough Market and School Food Matters Young Marketeers Winter Soup Sale 🍲 Alongside classics like tomato and lentil soup and spicy parsnip soup, these 11-16-year-olds also mastered bread making with BREAD AHEAD, which they sold together with their handmade, delicious soups at London’s iconic food market. All proceeds from this fantastic initiative that teaches young people how to grow, cook, and trade sustainably, will be donated to Plan Zheroes - The Zero Food Waste Heroes, Borough Market’s partner food redistribution charity, helping to tackle food waste and support vulnerable communities across London. We’re soup-er excited to help spread the word 💚

We are very excited to support a fantastic milestone in sustainability, the launch of the UK’s first multi-brand Borrow Cup initiative in Glasgow today! 🎉 Major brands including Costa Coffee, Caffè Nero and BURGER KING UK along with local cafes like Tinderbox, sprigg, and Kelvingrove Museum have teamed up to offer returnable cups to customers at 50 outlets across the city. The initiative, led by our client Hubbub and Reposit | Returnable Packaging Platform | B Corp has made it much easier for customers to skip the disposable cup and if successful, it will be rolled out in other cities. ✨ What a magical evening! ✨ After building excitement and awareness ahead of the Nordoff and Robbins annual Christmas Carol Service, we had the pleasure of witnessing the incredible performances by Jamie Cullum, Tony Mortimer and Lemar. We had a wonderful evening, and the service raised over £60,000 (and counting) to fund vital music therapy sessions. From Tony Mortimer’s heartfelt 30th-anniversary rendition of Stay Another Day with the Latymer Prep School Choir and 17-year-old music therapy client Ruby, to the audience joining classic carols at the stunning St Luke’s Church, it was a night fuelled by the power of music 🎄🎶 The Barley team worked closely with media, inviting showbiz and entertainment journalists to attend the service as well as facilitating interviews with the performers in the build up to the event. As a result, we’ve secured a range of broadcast and national coverage which shines a light on the remarkable work that the music therapy charity delivers 🙌 A very Merry Christmas, indeed! #NordoffAndRobbins
