Last week, a parent's manifesto was published by Sustain: The alliance for better food and farming. It was co-created with a group of parent ambassadors and involved research conducted with more than 2000 parents across the UK. Their parent panel will be presenting this manifesto, along with every supporter's name, at a special event in Parliament after the next General Election. Us parents want government to prioritise our children's health. The manifesto: 1. Make free, healthy & sustainable school food a priority for all children from nursery to sixth form/college 2. Protect children from the flood of unhealthy food advertisement and marketing 3. Ensure honest and trustworthy information is provided on food and drink packaging 4. Make nutritious food affordable and accessible to all families 5. Put a stop to the sale of high-caffeine energy drinks to children As a mum of two young children, I find it a constant struggle to keep them eating healthily when our current food norms are so unhealthy. The government doesn't currently take the health of our children seriously enough - this was proven when they twice delayed the introduction of a 9pm watershed and online ban on paid for advertising for food and drink high in fat, salt and/or sugar- almost three years after they promised the legislation would come into force. Power to the parents!! Show your support for this manifesto here:
