  • Tis the season to be jolly and you may be thinking about Christmas gifts for your staff as you’re feeling all warm & fuzzy inside. ✨ ✅ The good news for limited companies is that you can treat your employees to Christmas gifts costing less than £50 (including delivery & VAT) such as wine, chocolates, or hampers without it being treated as a taxable benefit. ❌ Anything costing a penny over £50 would be fully taxable as a "benefit-in-kind" and needs to go on a P11d. Christmas bonuses need to go through payroll as earnings. 🥂🌲 What about those all-important Christmas parties? 🪩✨You can treat employees to a staff annual event such as a Christmas celebration as long as it costs less than £150/head and is open to all employees. -------------------------------------------------------------- 🎁 Treating clients & suppliers to Christmas gifts? • ✨ It’s coming to that festive time of year again and you may be thinking about sending a Christmas gift to your clients to show your appreciation & gratitude ✨ Gifts of this nature are generally not tax-deductible for limited companies because they are considered “business entertaining". The exception is for promotional gifts. These are: ✅ Small gifts that contain obvious and clearly visible branding on the item itself - (think notebooks, diaries, key rings, pens) that don’t exceed £50 per client per accounting year. Gift vouchers aren't allowed under this rule. ❌ Sadly food & drink do not count which excludes popular gifting options like wine, chocolates, or hampers. 👉🏽 Reminder: if you decide on a non-deductible business gift, it’s beneficial to put it through your limited company rather than paying out of your own pocket post-tax.

☠️ What gives you the finance scaries? ☠️ ⛔️ Warning: halloween puns incoming! Is it one of these? 🕷️ Cash flow chill – when money runs dry but the bills are closing in. 🦇 Unplanned expenses - lurking in the shadows, ready to strike when you least expect it. 🧟♀️ Late payments – the client who always goes zombie, disappearing without a trace. 🎃 End-of-year tax fears – ‘surprise!’ isn’t a word we want in finance. As an accountant, these send a chill down my spine: 👻 Missing receipts – vanished into thin air, never to be found again. 💀 Overdrawn director loan accounts – hidden liabilities ready to pounce if clients aren't careful. 🕸 Mixing business and personal expenses – a tangled web that turns tax time into a fright fest. 😈 Accidentally spending HMRC’s money - the horror of clients spending money that isn’t theirs before the tax bill arrives. Don’t worry—I’m here to help you keep these finance frights at bay and handle your business finances without the scare factor 🕯 🙋🏽♀️ 📸: Halloween biscuits made with my kids at the weekend

✨We need to talk about this✨ If women set up and scaled business at the same rate as men, we could help unlock another £250BN for the economy. Yet the number of women setting up businesses has now dropped to just 15%. Thank you to Female Founders Rise for raising awareness about this in their "You've Got What It Takes" campaign launch last week and painted LinkedIn and bilboards purple 💜 How we can support women-led businesses: 💟 Buy their products 💟 Invest in them 💟 Champion and mentor them 💟 Hire their services By supporting female founders, you’re not only helping women succeed – you’re also contributing to economic growth 💫

  • ✨ The self-assessment deadline is in 99 days ✨ It's so easy to leave this for your January 2025 self to deal with. 3 reasons not to: 1️⃣ it's an excuse to treat yourself to a huge slice of cake, a G&T or caramel latte afterwards 2️⃣ avoid the dreaded hold music and chaos that is the HMRC helplines in Jan 3️⃣ your accountant will love you forever 🟢 Remember, filing early doesn't mean you have to pay early. You still have until midnight on 31st January to settle your personal tax bill. 🌟 Big gold star to all our early bird clients who are feeling zen right now knowing theirs is sorted. 🦆 Got your ducks in a row this year? Let us know in the comments 👇🏽
