Beckers China recently hosted baristas from Dream Workshop Coffee for a unique immersion in the world of coffee. Dream Workshop Coffee is a cafe and employment support base for young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Down Syndrome and related conditions in Shanghai. As well as providing jobs and training, the cafe is a hub and important local resource for Shanghai’s communities impacted by disability, where people can gain skills and find meaningful employment.   Staff from the cafe gave sessions for Beckers colleagues on everything from how to make the perfect latte to environmental protection activities and recycling. Since 2023, Beckers focuses its social engagement on the cause of raising the prospects and levels of care for children and youth. In addition to creating synergy, the event also raised funds to further support disabled people in Shanghai, with Beckers staff purchasing coffee vouchers and related products, inspired by the workshop activities. #BeckersGroup #peoplewithimpact #coatingsindustry #pioneeringperformance #positiveimpact

Last week we welcomed a group of student from KTH Royal Institute of Technology at our Beckers Group site in Märsta. They visited us as part of their Surface Coatings Chemistry course. This visit, which has now becomed an annual tradition, gives us the opportunity to showcase the work we do at Beckers to become the most sustainable coatings company in the world 🌍 Many thanks to all my colleagues who made it possible!

Why is Chain of Custody important in the sustainability of Prepainted Metal? A complex title for an interactive workshop at the ECCA annual congress last week in Brussels. Fortunately it did not prevent an engaged audience from joining us and taking home some clear learnings. ✅ Encouraging progress is on the way towards low carbon steel and aluminium production with first products already in the market. ✅ Maximum Recycling rates are key and methods for transparent tracking with a segregated / controlled blending approach are clearly favoured. ✅ This progress increases the focus on organic coatings with renewable carbon and lower Product Carbon Footprint (PCF). ✅ Chemical raw material producers and coating producers push for using mass balance and attribution alongside with segregated new molecules. ✅ This will ensure faster progress and reduce product qualification work and technical risk for the multitude of raw materials in resins and solvents. Such innovative applications are marketed in some similar industries like wood coatings or packaging already. ✅ Product schemes like LEED or BREEAM and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) are requested to support these new opportunities to enable market impact in the prepainted metal industry. 👏 Thanks to my great colleagues Dr. Claudine Stoye from Covestro, Hélène Pernot from Arkema, Davide P. from Novelis and Terry Goodwin and the European Coil Coating Association - ECCA Team the initiative. Beckers US celebrates #Thanksgiving with Community Food Action To mark this year’s Thanksgiving our US colleagues organized a community action to support individuals and families who are struggling to put food on the table. Partnering with a local food pantry, staff donated 500 items of long-lasting canned goods, with Beckers matching item for item as part of our ongoing ‘give back’ initiative.   According to current Census reports, 37.9 million Americans live in poverty, many of them children and young people. Beckers focuses its social engagement on the cause of raising the prospects and levels of care for children. Our colleagues in the US regularly join forces with local groups and community organizations for actions ranging from sponsored runs to litter picking.   As well as helping vulnerable people at what can be a stressful time of year, our Thanksgiving action was a great opportunity to engage directly with community representatives and stakeholders and learn from them how we can best contribute to raising the standard of care in our communities. Thank you to everyone who took part, donated their time, talent or food items.
