  • Construction to crisps … Jane Lynchehaun can turn her hand to most things, which is why we are super happy to announce her promotion to an Account Director at Beeline PR . Her two years with Beeline have flown by, during which time she has maintained brilliant relationships with her clients and colleagues, nurtured more junior talent, created some cool new systems, helped with our office move and has become more educated into the world of whisky while working on The Scotch Malt Whisky Society.  She even helped then win a Guinness World Record! Good things happen to good people.  Well done Jane 👏

Only 12% of UK fund managers are female, with little growth year on year. This lack of diversity in the finance industry must be addressed to ensure future growth and potential. At Future Asset, we believe that a grassroots approach is key to achieving long-term success. By educating young women at the high school level, we open up opportunities and pave the way for a more inclusive financial sector. We are proud that our work across Scotland has been highlighted by The Times, emphasising the urgent need for change in the finance industry. The industry desperately needs a new generation of diverse, talented women and we are committed to accelerating this transformation. We certainly won't wait 200 years to achieve it! • Scotland's leading independently owned home furnishing specialist, Sterling Home, has designs on “exciting times ahead’ in its 50th anniversary year as it reflects on the “prompt and decisive action” it's taken under new leadership to address issues affecting the firm’s financial performance. Founded in late 1973 by George Knowles, last year the Tillicoultry-based firm appointed industry veteran John Pattison as its new CEO. Since taking up the role in August 2023, John has spearheaded a new direction of travel for the business. Over the past nine months, Sterling, under Pattison’s stewardship, have: ·      appointed several key senior personnel to their top team ·      instigated a change in style, tone and approach to engage with the wider colleague team on key matters such as company values and colleague communication ·      secured significant new funding in a new and extended arrangement with banking partner Royal Bank Of Scotland, which Sterling expects to formalise the terms on over the coming weeks ·      mapped out ambitious plans for the years ahead, including several planned new stores across the Group, starting with a major new 50,000sqft Sterling Home store at Hillington in Glasgow, for which Heads of Terms have been agreed, and change of use proposals have been made through the local authority, anticipated to open by the end of the year. Beeline PR worked hand in glove with John and his top team to highlight the company's latest accounts and ambitions for growth and it's been great to see a swathe of positive coverage landing in trade and business media throughout today. Congratulations to all at Islay's Ardnahoe Distillery - the Inaugural Release is ready! The single malt is a five-year-old age statement made using both ex-bourbon and ex-oloroso casks. It's peated to 40ppm, and the worm tub condensers - the only ones on the island - have really contributed to a gloriously round texture. Tasting the expression, I got loads of orchard fruits in a buttery nose with a pretty subtle smoke. There was a freshness, a grassiness too, plus lemon meringue, citrus peels and Danish pastries. The palate bought shortbread, liquorice, buttery croissants and a gorgeous, robust smoke. "It's an iconic Islay, a unique Islay," said distillery manager, Fraser Hughes. Congrats to the whole team, especially Fraser, Andrew Laing, Scott Laing, Jennifer Tait and Lorraine Gillen. What a joy it was to taste the Ardnahoe Inaugural Release with you! A HUGE thank you too to Jim Byers and Katie Spence at Beeline PR, and Lotte Latimer for organising us all! #ardnahoe #islay #islaywhisky #whisky #singlemalt #islaysinglemalt #ardnahoeinauguralrelease #scotch #distilleryvisit

  • It’s definitely all eyes on Eyemouth this week 🤩 Following hot on the heels of his splendid Telegraph piece https://lnkd.in/ejJnSbhh, Robin McKelvie treats us to another fascinating glimpse into Eyemouth past and present with this fab 4-page feature in Best of Scotland, out today with The Herald Scotland and Sunday National From smuggling and skulduggery (past) to fresh-off-the-boat fish and chips and vegan “lobster” (present), not forgetting epic coastal walks and scenery (timeless), it’s clear Eyemouth and the Berwickshire Coast are a Bucket List essential! Fab to work with SSDAlliance on this, as always 🙌 #ScotlandStartsHere #TravelPR

🚌Yesterday's visit by the The Guild of Food Writers, which started at Kitchen Coos & Ewes finished with visits to The Ethical Dairy and The Globe Inn. There were some fantastic Instagram posts highlighting these venues from all the writers as they made their way around the venues - here are just a few! We hope you agree there were some fantastic images of the South of Scotland coming out of this visit! This project was funded by the Regional Food Fund awarded to the SSDA by Scotland Food & Drink to raise the visibility of some of the South of Scotland's Food & Drink Legends. #regionalfoodfund

‘We are radically changing the scale of ambitions for the South of Scotland. ‘The challenges are huge, but our ambitions are bigger.’ Just a snippet of the inspirational rallying cry issued today by David Hope-Jones OBE the chief executive of the SSDAlliance at the launch of a 10-year responsible tourism strategy for the region. We’re proud to support the SSDAlliance team on their journey and mission to inspire more people to visit this beautiful part of Scotland. The event was full of energy, ideas and optimism - the region’s potential is huge. As Euan Jardine leader of Scottish Borders Council reminded the audience: ‘This is a heavyweight region and we are riding the crest of a wave’. A number of great talks and sessions today including Oddny Arnarsdottir from VisitIceland in particular and Paul Ralph from Partners in Access. Great work on the conference by Vanessa Wegstein ACIM Gowan Miller Sarah Macdonald and team!

  • Celebrating women’s achievements, increasing their visibility and raising them up is an important way to help close the gender gap.     Our friends at The Scotch Malt Whisky Society today released a selection of exceptional whiskies chosen by a special secret all-women Tasting Panel - with 5% of the profits being donated to OurWhisky Foundation, the organisation founded by Becky Paskin to help women thrive in the whisky industry.   The SMWS has also donated one of the bottles to the Demeter Collection, the world’s first auction of whiskies celebrating female achievement, which has been launched by the OurWhisky Foundation in partnership with Whisky Auctioneer.    This International Women’s Day we are proud to work with organisations which #InvestInWomen and are making leaps and bounds towards making their industries inclusive and welcoming for all.
