    In our new LinkedIn series ‘Serving up Success’ we sit down with Alessia Derudas, Demi Chef De Rang at Romazzino, a Belmond Hotel. A new chapter began for Sardinia’s iconic beachfront destination as it opened its doors last year imbued with a glamorous spirit, striking white-washed architecture and views of a captivating emerald beachfront. Alessia joined out team as we welcomed guests for the first time – she was drawn to see a new part of the world and wanted a new experience to develop and hone her skills. “Belmond gave me the opportunity to learn, they were not afraid to challenge me and ask me more even though it was my first season at the restaurant and in contact with guests from all over the world. Thanks to this I learned a lot and I feel very satisfied with my first journey with them.” Over her time with Belmond Alessia tells us how she has grown not only her career but as a person and when asked what one piece of advice she would give she replied, “My advice for those who are considering a career with Belmond is to undertake this experience, it will be a success for your growth and will help you look at work with different eyes. For my future I hope to continue to improve, to be able to reach a higher level and to always feel satisfied with what I achieve.” Throughout the year we will be sharing more stories about our employees who are ‘Serving up Success’ and crafting a unique career in gastronomy.     A Taste of Sicily in Dubai. This month in Dubai we hosted two private four-hands dinners curated by talented Sicilian Chefs, Roberto Toro from one Michelin-starred restaurant Otto Geleng at Grand Hotel Timeo, A Belmond Hotel and Agostino D’Angelo from Villa Sant'Andrea, A Belmond Hotel. In a unique waterfront venue headed by Executive Chef Dario Abbare, the two Chefs delighted their guests with a meticulously crafted signature menu, showcasing the finest ingredients with creative flair. Evoking the typical sense of Sicilian hospitality, the evenings started with an aperitif followed by Roberto Toro’s renowned tortelli filled with liquid pecorino cheese. Agostino D’Angelo followed with Scampo with crustacean emulsion, lobster coral powder, sweet-and-sour onion and tuber medallion, ending these unforgettable dinners with a traditional Italian dessert, Tiramisù in a Sicilian version with pistachio. Experience the tastes of Italy in Taormina, where Villa Sant’Andrea will reopen on 20th March 2025 for a new season of romantic fine dining at Lido Villeggiatura.
