About us

Welcome to the Belton Farm where the Beckett family have been making award winning cheese since 1922. Belton is based in the glorious Shropshire countryside, close to the county of Cheshire. We have our own local milk field of 85 farms all within a 25 miles radius of the dairy and follow a traditional handmade process using bespoke starter cultures for our cheese. Our cheese can be found in most UK major multiples and independents and we also export worldwide. The Belton 450 acre farm has been organic since 2002 with 15,000 hardwood trees planted as part of the Countryside Stewardship.

  • Cheesemakers Mark the Start of the Festive Season at the Royal Hospital Chelsea! This week Belton Farm joined cheesemakers from across the UK to mark the start of the festive season at the Annual Ceremony of the Christmas Cheeses. Together, we donated some of our finest products to the veterans of the Royal Hospital Chelsea. An impressive 730 lbs just over 330 kilograms of British cheese was gifted this year to the Chelsea Pensioners, continuing a cherished tradition of giving from the dairy industry to the Royal Hospital community. Organized by Dairy UK, this historic event dates back to 1692 and is a highlight of the festive calendar at the Royal Hospital. The tradition began when Sir Christopher Wren, the architect of the Royal Hospital Chelsea, invited local cheesemongers to provide cheese for the Pensioners in the year the hospital opened. What began as an informal act of kindness grew over the years and 64 years ago, became an official organized event, a testament to the longstanding relationship between Britain’s cheesemakers and the veterans of the Royal Hospital Chelsea.

  • Earlier this week, we officially broke ground on a 1.5MW on-site solar project at Belton Farm, in partnership with Conrad Energy and Invgate. This marks a major step forward in our ongoing commitment to sustainability. Belton Farm has long been a leader in environmental responsibility. As one of the first cheesemakers to launch a carbon footprint program—both at the business level and with our local farmers—we have demonstrated an unwavering dedication to reducing our impact. From 2009 to 2021, achieving an impressive 48% reduction in total emissions, all while increasing cheese production year on year. This new solar initiative is set to reduce our carbon footprint by 350 tonnes of CO2 annually, while also delivering energy cost savings through a power purchase agreement. We’re now one step closer to fully harnessing renewable energy to power our operations. We’re proud to take this next step in our journey toward a greener, more sustainable future.

International Sales Manager at Belton Farm

An exciting few weeks at Belton Farm as we hosted 15 International buyers at our facility in Whitchurch as part of the UK Dairy Export Showcase fabulously brought to life by teams at AHDB - Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board, Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and Department for Business and Trade. Much has been said about the success of the event, which is the culmination of 2 years of work of the Dairy Export Taskforce set up by the NFU (National Farmers' Union) that brought together so many Dairy organisations and companies that have worked together attending meetings, subgroups, calls & Visits. For me personally, the event showed how we have a group of fantastic people in the dairy industry that collaborate so well to push our products to the world, often with very different offerings that can compliment each other. It was great to see so many side meetings and introductions where we each suggested different companies to potential customers if they were looking for something that couldn't be provided by ourselves. A fantastic initiative and event, and I hope very much, only the start of the Dairy Export Taskforce's journey.
