🚩 Problem: A chemical manufacturing plant experienced an emergency shutdown due to a sulfuric acid leak from a flange in the suction chamber. The existing coating had been damaged, leading to dangerous conditions and an immediate need for repair. 🔧 Solution: The damaged flange was removed and sent to Belzona UK Ltd's workshop. The surface was thoroughly prepared by cleaning, degreasing, and roughening to remove the failed coating and expose the steel substrate. Belzona 1392 was then applied to the flange, ensuring a level surface so the gasket could sit tightly. After curing, the flange was returned and reinstalled at the plant. ✅ Fact: Belzona 1392, a high temperature coating designed for harsh chemical environments, proved ideal for this application, handling up to 40% sulfuric acid at 55°C. 🚩 Problem: To improve wastewater infrastructure, the Customer needed a robust coating solution for lining carbon steel pipes on newly constructed pipe bridges, pump stations, and booster stations. These pipes, situated in abrasive environments, required enhanced durability and protection. 🔧 Solution: Using specialised spin blasting and spray equipment, we prepared the pipe surface with A-grade garnet, then applied Belzona 5821 using a pump system. This precision-controlled setup, with an inline heater, ensured consistent delivery and aesthetic finish. Belzona 5821, a ceramic-filled epoxy, provides abrasion resistance and cost-effective coverage over large areas in two protective coats. ✅ Outcome: The coating has demonstrated outstanding results, outperforming high-build epoxies in long-term abrasion resistance.
