About us

(Formerly Skillnet Group CIC) We are people with and without learning difficulties and/or autism, working and learning together. Whether it’s to be seen working, be heard campaigning or belong to a friendly group of people, people achieve their goals with bemix. We live and work in Kent. Most of our work is in Canterbury, Dover, Thanet, Sittingbourne and Medway but we do offer some support in other areas. We support people with learning difficulties and/or autism to speak up, make choices and become powerful and influential. We support them to gain opportunities and become more independent in learning, housing, work, health, money, travel, leisure and relationships. We support people to hear, respect and empower people with learning difficulties and/or autism. We promote positive action to challenge negative attitudes about disability. We work with local communities so that people with learning difficulties and/or autism become fully included and no longer segregated.

  • Recently, our Medway Supported Employment group raised £111 for YoungMinds through a bake sale, building teamwork, communication, and enterprise skills along the way! Young people in the group baked their own goods and also provided some shop-bought items, along with hot drinks, for a small fee. The bake sale took place at Medway Community Hub, a bemix Supported Employment classroom venue. People in bemix workforce and other businesses based at the Community Hub were invited to attend. The turnout was fantastic, and the group exceeded their target of £100 by raising an impressive £111 in total! • At The Eco Shed, everyone is busy creating beautiful, one-of-a-kind items using reclaimed wood! Recently, Robert, Grant and David have been working on projects both personal and creative - crafting stunning chessboards! Each new project in The Eco Shed is an opportunity to learn new skills - this time whilst making thoughtful gifts for family members. The chessboard projects began with Robert. Robert’s own project, creating both a chessboard and draughts board, sparked an interest among the rest of the group - soon others began planning their own creative works!
