Improving Outcomes For Children
About us
At BERRI we know that people often only see a child's behaviour without truly empathising with their underlying psychological needs. As a psychologically informed platform, we understand the complexities of trauma, attachment and child development, and how these areas can affect outcomes in later life. We believe that such change starts with understanding the nature of the problem and measuring what works. That's why we developed BERRI - an innovative clinical evaluation tool that provides an individualised and comprehensive understanding of a child's psychological functioning. Going beyond mere behavioural issues or labels, BERRI can help parents, carers and professionals see the child's needs in the context of what is going on in their lives and gives detailed individualised advice on how to support them. With BERRI we cover aspects and metrics that are often overlooked, with an aim to offer a broader picture of a child's life experiences and challenges, and ultimately lead to better outcomes and support. Our tool is designed to enhance the approach of parents, foster carers, residential care homes, schools, and local authorities to provide an improved care for those under their supervision. BERRI was created by Dr Miriam Silver, an award-winning Consultant Clinical Psychologist with a wealth of over 20 years of experience working with children in care and those with complex needs. With a 16-year career in the NHS managing CAMHS services, she has been an expert witness in over 250 family court cases, including complex custody disputes. Dr Silver has contributed to many policy documents, trained over 1000 staff and delivered numerous conference keynotes. Her acclaimed book, "Attachment in Common Sense and Doodles," has sold over 12,000 copies, cementing her status as a leading voice for children.

It was great to be part of this research and the lovely reception at the House of Commons yesterday. Many thanks for the invitation Harvey Gallagher. To the rest of my network: Please do take a look and share this paper about the importance of foster care. BERRI have a huge data set that can provide lots of helpful insights into the care sector, so I hope that this is only the beginning of the work we do to influence policy and practice.
Our new research published today examines the contribution IFAs make to vulnerable children and makes key recommendations to government #fostering

🌟🆕🌟 We are thrilled to announce that we have invested in BERRI - an innovative social enterprise that works to improve outcomes for children. BERRI is a clinical evaluation tool for identifying, tracking and improving the outcomes of children with complex needs. It helps parents, carers and professionals see the child's needs in the context of what is going on in their lives and gives detailed individualised advice on how to support them. Our investment will help the team at BERRI to continue to develop and market the core BERRI offering, whilst developing and piloting two new products. We look forward to working closely with the team and providing them with tailored business support to achieve their impact potential. Expert clinical psychologist and Founder, Dr Miriam Silver said: “We chose to partner with Sumerian Foundation because they support our ambitions to make life better for children and families who have experienced adversity. "I'm delighted to have found an investment partner that shares our values and can help us increase our impact by making BERRI available to parents concerned about their child's mental health or neuropsychological development." We are excited to work alongside Dr Miriam Silver and her team as they offer a broader picture of a child's life experiences and challenges, to help improve care and ultimately lead to better outcomes. A bit slow off the mark to post this, but I'm proud to share that BERRI won the Social Transformation Award at the Digital Leaders Awards on Thursday. It was great to hear the judges feedback about the difference we are making, and to be able to celebrate with some of my team. At a time in which so many public services are being cut back to save money, despite the impact on outcomes for those who need it most, we are delighted to know that BERRI is helping local authorities to improve outcomes for children whilst saving costs. Digital Leaders made their Impact Awards a fantastic event. There were lots of interesting talks, and I got to meet lots of inspiring people who are also trying to make a difference in the world. There was a real mix of public sector organisations, large established companies and smaller enterprises like us, all with a shared mission to deliver our services in a way that does good for people and planet. You can read about all the winners here: https://lnkd.in/ehHJF4qt Particular thanks to my wonderful team (Ben Paul, Richard. Evans, Tegai Lansdell, Emma Marriott, Dr Lucy McGregor, Dr Lakshman Ganatra, Dan Bronstein, CFA, Dr Liam Gilligan, Ailsa McGrath, Richard Hooper, Jasmin Wason, Sarah Wright, Connie D., Kelly Chan, Poppy Hargrave, Jacob Pead-Kingdon) and our fantastic partners who use BERRI in various local authorities and organisations. Thanks also to all those who made me feel so welcome, including Robin Knowles and Jude Brooks, FRSA, with a bonus thanks to the lovely couple who let me share their taxi home after the train was delayed and we missed the connection! #innovation #impactawards #healthtech #makingadifference
