📊 Latest Insights from Our Expected Cost Monitor 📊 We have two key highlights to share: 1️⃣ With the shift to T+1 settlement for US stocks on May 28, 2024, many clients have sought insight into the effects on FX and equity markets. Initially, we anticipated a surge in short-term FX swap trading between 4-5 PM New York time. However, data from BestX shows no consistent increase, except on the settlement date itself—challenging initial expectations. 2️⃣ Our analysis of Chinese and Hong Kong stocks in late September, spurred by fiscal stimulus news, revealed an intriguing trend: USDCNH activity peaked a week before the stock rally on September 14th. While this could be influenced by the Fed's rate reduction, it also suggests a trend of capital inflow preceding the market rally.
