About us
Better Bankside exists to make Bankside a better place to do business. Better Bankside is a Business Improvement District (BID); a non-profit, independent company, led and funded by Bankside-based businesses. Our vision is to make Bankside the best neighbourhood in the world. The Better Bankside area includes over 620 businesses and covers the area from the riverside in the north, Great Suffolk Street to the south, Blackfriars Road to the west and east to Borough High Street. Our business members enjoy our diverse range of services from free recycling to a local "Buzz" discount card scheme, marketing support, cycling services and free recruitment. We run regular business and social events, fostering a culture of working with our neighbours to keep business in Bankside. If you want to support the local community, we can help you make connections through our CSR programme. We also deliver projects that improve the public realm in Bankside and our team of wardens and cleaners keep the streets safe and clean. There are a number of ways that you can get involved with Better Bankside from joining one of our theme groups or sitting on the board of directors. The Better Bankside team would love to talk to you in more detail about how we can work together. Contact us on 0207 928 3998 or email info@betterbankside.co.uk. You can also see more of what we do on our website or Twitter (@BetterBankside).

We Need Your Help This Christmas Bring joy this festive season by donating a gift to the Bankside Christmas Gift Appeal. Your contribution will support someone facing homelessness, struggling with their mental health, or one of our older neighbours. Each charity we support has its own online wish list, making it easy to choose a meaningful gift. We’re also looking for volunteers to help wrap the gifts—check out our events page for more information. Donations can be made here: https://lnkd.in/dWUyJT9B Together, we can make a difference this Christmas.

🌍 Driving Climate Action in Southwark 🌍 Last night, Better Bankside was honoured to present “community evidence” at the Southwark Council Assembly, where our very own Sadie Hodgson shared the impact of the Southwark Climate Collective (SCC) with a room full of councillors. She appealed for continued—and expanded—support to keep this vital initiative thriving. In just one year, through this unique partnership between Southwark Council, Team London Bridge, Blue Bermondsey and Elephant & Castle Business Forum and the Mayor of London, we’ve achieved some great milestones: ✅ 150+ SMEs supported across Southwark—from Peckham Platform to Dulwich Picture Gallery, Hej Coffee to Surrey Docks Farm. ✅ 18% of businesses engaged are Black, Asian, or Minority Ethnic owned or led. We’re now working closely with the council, technical partners and businesses to review and improve ongoing support for SMEs. 🚀 Our goal? To scale up this support with an investible proposition that empowers businesses to take action themselves, driving greater impact across Southwark. At its heart, the SCC proves that Southwark businesses are ready to act on climate, but they need bespoke, practical support to get started. Together, we’ve engaged with harder-to-reach SMEs, testing innovative concepts and driving tangible change. 💡 Let’s ensure this momentum continues! With greater council backing, we can amplify Southwark’s role as a leader in tackling the climate crisis. #SouthwarkClimateCollective #ClimateAction #SMEs #Sustainability #BetterBankside
