The HealthcheX® fFN Rapid Test is a simple and accurate in vitro test for qualitative detection of Foetal Fibronectin (fFN). It can be performed by a vaginal swab to estimate the risk of preterm labour (PTL) by measuring the fFN in vaginal fluid. This immunochromatographic test can detect fFN at 50ng/mL and above, with a high sensitivity and specificity. When a sample is applied to the test cassette, it reacts with the antibodies impregnated on the membrane and moves up via lateral flow/capillary action. If fFN is present in the sample, a coloured band appears on the test region indicating positive. I have known BHR and its founder, Ramesh Patel for over 10 years and always admired the reputation of the company and the model that Ramesh had created. We were introduced by a dear colleague of mine who had also worked for Ramesh for some years, which told me all I needed to know. ➡️ 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙖𝙙𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪’𝙫𝙚 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙚𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙙? The best advice I received in my career is always do the hardest thing first, then everything else will seem pretty easy! It’s something that I still do every day. ➡️ 𝙏𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙪𝙨 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙧 𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙝. I am a career salesperson. I started working with blood banking reagents, followed by therapeutic drug monitoring and drugs of abuse testing products. This took me into some very interesting places! I was lucky enough to travel around the world working in export management for The Binding Site. In 2002 a colleague and I set up a UK distribution company, selling ELISpot and molecular technologies, mainly to academia. Over time we moved into clinical diagnostics until we sold Oxford Biosystems to BioVendor. The use of urine test strips is acknowledged as a modern screening method in medical practice. 🚩 World AMR Awareness Week 2024 has provoked many impactful responses, from parliamentarians to companies and organisations, and even celebrities. We applaud all efforts to raise awareness and provide education on this issue. We have seen many staggering statistics, and heard many solutions. However, now is the time to move from awareness to action. Diagnostics are available now which could immediately lessen the impact of AMR and enable faster, more effective treatment for patients through rapid, accurate diagnoses. We therefore reiterate our call for NHS England to implement the recommendations from our AMR consensus statement, released earlier this year.
