EY FinTech growth programme 4.0 is halfway through! What's been going on and what is still to come? ◼ First week of EY-led sessions included three informative topics with the theme 'Start up better', covering management incentives, finance operate and control frameworks ◼ Last week was 'Focus on finance' covering tax, legal and fundraising environment. We also had a group of brilliant investors joining us from Mountside Ventures, Illuminate Financial, BlackFin Capital Partners, Finch Capital, R Europe (formerly Seedrs) and BetaPlus This week our session focuses on 'Grow smarter' and the topics include regulatory licensing and authorisations, regulatory insights and ESG & sustainability strategy. Next week we jet off to Bristol to 'Focus on future' and in plans we have a 7 Drivers of growth workshop as well as sessions on international expansion and leadership. Post session we look forward to hosting a networking event with FinTech West to bring together the local ecosystem. ⭐ Finally in two weeks' time we have our EY FinTech showcase, the final event featuring a brilliant panel discussion and of course pitches from our 19 cohort companies hosted in collaboration with Snowflake. Frankfurt was home yesterday to the 18th edition of the International Financial Standards Conference! You may have come across the ISIN, CFI, LEI or UTI and didn't give it much further thought – but behind the scenes is an industrial effort to ensure that standards for identification, classification and distribution of financial instrument data are globally harmonised and up-to-date. We are thrilled to announce that BIGTXN has been selected for the EY FinTech Growth programme. BIGTXN joins 19 firms in a 6-week, non-residential programme aimed at supporting the most promising scaling UK FinTech firms. The aim of the programme is to provide scaling FinTechs with the right tools, resources and networks to take their companies further – with the support of EY professionals. On average, the companies are 5 years old, have raised almost £7m with over £3m annual revenues and employ 48 full-time employees. 37% of the companies are located outside of London and 16% of companies have at least one female founder or co-founder. When AI and Sanctions meet in DC! Full house for first day of the Annual International Conference on Global Sanctions and Export Controls. Great views from my fellow panelists, Polina Samuel & Morgan Holleran on the AI and Sanctions panel, and thank you for the excellent moderation Traci Mabrey If the surveys are anything to go by then AI is yet to have its moment in sanctions compliance and there are an abundance of use cases waiting to be tackled. The next highlight was under the command of Howard Spieler, CSS, CAMS, who led two wonderful rounds of discussion on sanctioned securities, with oversubscribed tables which eagerly engaged with the complex topic. If you thought the day-to-day of a sanctions specialist is dull or boring then wait until you have taken a ride with us on the Frozen Assets Disco Bus, which took us to the major landmarks in DC. While it is work for us with some fun, we always do it with a smile and every conference is a commendable feat for the community we have built at the Association of Certified Sanctions Specialists – well done to Saskia Rietbroek, CSS, Anna Sayre, CSS and team.
