Paradise is taking shape! Thank you to Bywater Properties for sharing this fantastic drone footage, which captures the last progress on site at #Paradise 🎥 Paradise is a full-scale exposed timber project which will provide six-storeys and 63,250 sq ft of visionary new commercial space in London, aiming to set a new standard for sustainable workspace. It aims to transform a neglected and disused site into a forward-looking sustainable office space; a test case for promoting awareness around the carbon impact of buildings. The new structural timber office building will feature a flexible, open-plan layout and aims to catalyse job creation in Lambeth, attracting creative industries to this part of London. Paradise has been designed to create happy and healthy workspaces, utilising the biophilic and low carbon benefits of structural timber. 🚧 Paradise is taking shape… From concept to construction, we’re proud to see Paradise in Lambeth come to life. It’s a bold step toward low-carbon innovation. We're minimising the impact of construction, saving 1,993 tonnes of embodied carbon over five years compared to the RIBA 2030 target. Island in Manchester has now reached practical completion. 🙌 We are proud to share these latest site photos from #Island, where B&K Hybrid Solutions detailed, fabricated and erected circa 700 tonnes of structural steelwork - manufactured from our state-of-the-art production facility – and delivered the Westok cell beam and metal decking package, on behalf of Bowmer and Kirkland Ltd. A joint venture between HBD and the Greater Manchester Pension Fund (GMPF), Island is a 100,000 sq ft of net zero carbon workspace. Located in the heart of Manchester’s core business district, it is a new generation of workspace – designed to reflect how the pandemic has reshaped our perception of work. Increased demand for hybrid working and other changes to the commercial market has encouraged a ‘blended environment’ design – including gyms and coffee shops – which aims to suit the aspirations of future occupants. Due to the building’s prominent City Centre location in the heart of #Manchester, careful planning and close collaboration with all project partners was required to navigate the challenges presented by the tight site restrictions. Targeting the highest sustainability standards, the building is designed to achieve net zero carbon, BREEAM Excellent and WELL-enabled. We were delighted to be part of the expert project team - including Bowmer and Kirkland Ltd, Cartwright Pickard and Curtins - and look forward to Island welcoming its first tenant Virgin Media O2, who have reached a 10-year agreement to take up around 50% of the new site. Yesterday our staff celebrated Christmas Jumper Day, where we raised £160 for Save the Children UK! 🎅 We also hosted our second annual ‘Christmas Grotto’ competition, which saw each B&K Hybrid Solutions department compete to decorate their offices, judged by our very own Managing Director Andrew Goodwin. After another fantastic effort from staff this year, our Production team came together to steal the show! 🏆 #ChristmasJumperDay is Save the Children's annual event which raises money for the children who need it most. Every December, millions of people across the United Kingdom (and beyond!) put on a festive knit at their workplace, school or with friends and make a donation to help give children the magical future they deserve. By dressing up and being silly, we’re helping kids facing serious issues like war, hunger and poverty. Island is a 100,000 sq ft net zero carbon, smart-enabled office scheme which has targeted the highest sustainability standards.
