Are you a passionate and creative individual with a flair for visual storytelling? We are on the lookout for a talented individual to join as a Social Media Content Creator / Junior Editor. Position Overview: We are seeking someone who will have dual responsibilities: In part, as the structured role of junior editor across TV Commercials, TV Promos, Radio ads and Social Media Branded Content and also in a more flexible and creative role as content creator, for the company’s inhouse social media channels. Reporting to in-house Directors and senior editors, the selected candidate will be guided to develop their skills and understanding of ‘industry standard’ post production work-flows and editing processes for Broadcast TV Commercials, and the delivery of promotional content for various clients and media outlets. The position will also involve on-set location and studio shoot experience - where the individual may be set any number of tasks and responsibilities, from DIT’ing to capturing and editing Behind-the-Scenes content to assisting the postproduction VFX team on the preparation of shot set ups. This is an entry-level opportunity and while no extensive professional experience is required, the ideal candidate should possess the following attributes: - A basic understanding of video production, including shooting and basic editing processes. - Creative prowess and enthusiasm for crafting engaging content across diverse platforms. - The enthusiasm and drive to produce compelling social media content. - An up-to-date knowledge of a variety of social media platforms. - At least a basic experience of Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Premiere Pro and After Effects. - Basic experience of Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator would be desirable (but not essential). - Knowledge of video and audio editing techniques, including music integration, sound effects, and transitions for effective storytelling. - Excellent communication skills for seamless collaboration within the team and accurate interpretation of project requirements. - Prior hands-on experience with cameras, preferably a Sony A7SIII or equivalent, showcasing a keen eye for cinematography and proficiency in camera settings and capabilities. - Familiarity with other camera equipment and accessories such as tripods, sliders, gimbals, and drones. Ability to set up, maintain, and operate camera kit. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team as well as remaining composed while meeting tight deadlines. We find ourselves shooting in sorts of studios and spaces across the U.K. (and beyond), so this week, it's nice to give a studio right here on our doorstep a run...... Lighting rigs are up, Studio floor & walls are freshly painted and our stylish new sets are ready to go - on our latest sleek TVC for Furniture Village at the mighty Dragon (TV & Film) Studios Wales 🎥 🎬 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 *Everything else is top secret, of course 😉

This week I'm celebrating 5 years at Black Lab Films 🎉 I honestly can't believe it's been that long, but looking back in the archives, it's cool to see how much we've done and how diverse the clients and productions have been. Here's a tiny snapshot of what I came across looking back 👀 The most surprising thing I came across in our archive, was a TVC with the disclaimer: 'Shot Pre-Pandemic' - featuring a retail store where none of the customers (actors) were wearing PPE/Facemasks. .....I'd already forgotten we lived through that crazy time of navigating shooting ads during COVID and working out how we represent a world on screen that wasn't able to keep up to speed with the (weekly) guidance/laws. What a wild time that was for productions everywhere! Now here we are with the new challenges - How we embrace AI, the move that audiences are making to different media platforms...and the 10 second attention span (Did anyone get this far down my post ? 😂 ). .......So much can happen in 5 years and this really is an industry that keeps you on your toes! Can't wait to see what's around the corner 😅
