In the past 100 hours, a round trip spanning an 8-hour time zone difference. #Beijing made it all worthwhile. Travelling with Nimesh Shah and Travis Lee as one team, the three days there were truly special. We had productive #business meetings with investment promotion officials, clients, accounting and #tax firms, and presented at a joint event. We gained insight into the ever-increasing demand for Chinese headquartered companies to expand overseas in search of growth opportunities, as well as the common pitfalls and challenges they face. There is clearly an urge to collaborate with experienced advisors overseas to ensure robust support for their #expansion efforts. All of these seamlessly blended with the stunning scenery of this ancient capital where the old meets the new. We admired the skyline featuring the Forbidden City and the CBD area, strolled through Longfu Temple and the 798 Art Zone (we were the first visitors to Professor Chunchen Wang's newly established exhibition space), and experienced the modern energy of Lize district alongside the timeless charm of Wudaoying Hutong. A heartfelt thank you to our friends and partners who graciously made the arrangements, hosted us and joined the meetings and event. It was a pleasure seeing all of you, including our Allinial Global colleagues Kerry Zhang and Enjun Zhang. I’ve been travelling solo in China on business for the last five years, so it was great to have Nimesh and Travis around this time. I felt so much more supported, and also had the chance to (try to) play tour guide in Beijing! P.S. Can you spot Nimesh's newly acquired Chinese name? #China #UK #inbound #overseas #International #accounting

Ticking care cost timebomb set to explode in April 2025 Retirees and their families could face significant cost rises due to Rachel Reeves' Budget proposals. Robert Salter notes self-employed carers may increase their prices due to the National Minimum Wage rise and its impact on goods and services costs. This could force families to provide more at-home care, creating heavy financial and emotional burdens, especially for those with significant support needs like dementia: https://hubs.la/Q02ZHsWY0 #BlickRothenberg | #retirees | #carehome | #RachelReeves | #Budget

The Team Behind The Tax – Introducing Simon Sutcliffe Our Partner-led approach ensures that you receive high-quality service from a team of high-quality people. Built on strong, long-lasting relationships we recognise that every client is unique. The same can be said of the people here at Blick Rothenberg. All unique and all with a story to tell. So why not take this opportunity to get to know some of our people a little better, continuing this week with Partner and Customs & Excise Duty expert Simon Sutcliffe. Name: Simon Likes: Motorcycles, both riding and restoring them, as well as guitars, Rugby League, clay pigeon shooting, reading history books, and being a proud Yorkshireman (God’s own county – of course). Dislikes: Bad manners (not the 1980s ska band), UK train travel, people who think the rules don’t apply to them, and celery (shudder!) Day job: Customs & Excise Duty and International Trade Partner. Sector / specialism: I help clients move their goods around the world, anything from oil rigs to classic cars or bottles of scotch. I make sure that their international supply chain is as efficient as it can be from a customs perspective, and that they pay just the right amount of duty and Import VAT when importing and exporting their products. I also help solve problems for clients who get their goods held up when entering or leaving the country and aid them in agreeing the right sort of shipping terms with their suppliers and customers so they can operate efficiently and cost effectively. Days in service: 6,206 days and counting If I didn’t work in Tax? When I was at school our only careers advice was: “Hands up those that want to go down t’ pit or go t’ mill or join the army”. Hence, it is highly likely I would still be in the Police, law enforcement or the military. Surprise Fact: I spent an early part of my career as an Inspector in the Royal Hong Kong Police, and I still have a smattering of Cantonese (and not just the swear words). Tax Boost Offers Government a Ray of Hope Amid Budget Backlash HMRC's latest monthly tax statistics reveal growing tax revenues, providing the Government with a ray of hope following a tumultuous Budget. Senior Associate Tom Goddard noted: " Despite a slight blip in August, where receipts were just under a billion pounds lower than August 2023, total tax receipts are up £24bn over the past year compared to the previous 12 months. This offers much-needed financial optimism for the Government after a Budget that had many fearing the worst." https://hubs.la/Q02ZybWM0 #BlickRothenberg | #HMRC | #Budget | #Tax | #TaxBoost |
