About us

Self-confidence, in addition to self-defence skills 🌸 At Blossom, we don't do self-defence courses like everyone else. Instead we help our participants on their self-esteem journey, sharing why we all need to develop our confidence, and acknowledging that life isn’t always as perfect as we’d like it to be. If you feel like you have nowhere to turn, and can't escape a cycle of abuse and violence, then it will be a comfort to know that our instructors have been in the same place as you, which is the very reason why this course exists. If you’re fortunate enough not to have experienced this side of life, but worried that it could happen to you, you’re also in the right place. We provide a safe space for sharing our fears, and little by little over the course of the day we equip our newfound friends with the knowledge and skills to avoid becoming the victim. What’s in our course? Our immersive, full day course is a 50/50 split of theory and physical skills, and we guarantee that at the end of it you will understand the world in which we live more clearly, and be a whole lot better equipped to deal with its challenges. We also find that nearly every participant appreciates the safe environment we provide, and takes the opportunity to share some of their journey with their co-participants too, so that we can all learn from each other. Is it fun? Absolutely Is it serious? Sometimes Is it physical? Only as much as you want it to be Is it empowering? We guarantee it!

  • 🌸Join Us on an Epic Adventure to Empower the Next Generation! 🌸 In the summer of 1995, Maddie France from Te😆Blossom took on an incredible Outward Bound course, climbing, hiking, and camping her way to becoming who she is today. Now, she’s joining forces with women in the Wakefield business community, friends, to pass the baton on—and we want YOU to be part of this journey! 💪 On Saturday 1st March 2025, we’re tackling a 22-mile hike along Edale Skyline, raising funds for The Outward Bound Trust to give young women in West Yorkshire life-changing outdoor experiences. ❤️Why It Matters Spending time outdoors isn’t just fun—it improves physical and mental well-being, encourages social interaction, and builds resilience. But did you know the average child today spends only 4 hours a week outside—half as much as the previous generation? With your support, we can transform lives by giving young women access to the outdoors and all the benefits it brings. 🌸How You Can Help: 1️⃣ Join the hike – Take on the challenge and hike with us! 2️⃣ Donate – Every contribution helps us empower young women to go Outward Bound. 3️⃣ Share – Spread the word and inspire others to support this cause. Together, we can make a real difference. Let’s help the next generation from Wakefield discover their potential through the great outdoors! 📆 Save the Date: Saturday, 1st March 2025 📍 Location: Edale Skyline For more info on how to join or support us, DM us or contact Maddie 07881736913. • If you’ve been on a full day Blossom course you’ll know about this amazing tech tool, if you’ve not and you’d like to find out more tech tips and practical safety initiatives then follow us for our next course date as they’re released. Approximately one in five adults in the UK will experience domestic abuse in their lifetime. If you are concerned about domestic abuse or someone who may potentially be facing domestic abuse, we know it can be hard to find support. That’s why Bright Sky was developed. Bright Sky is a safe, easy to use app that provides practical support and information on how to respond to domestic abuse. The app is free to use and can help you to spot the signs of abuse, know how to respond, and find a safe route to support. https://lnkd.in/gKSysKP

  • 💞Collaboration in Action! 💞 Hi everyone, Maddie here! I’m thrilled to share an incredible milestone in our efforts to make our cities safer and more welcoming for everyone. Over the past few months, I’ve had the privilege of connecting peers in Leeds with our amazing statutory colleagues in Wakefield. By learning from Leeds’ successes—like the award-winning Nightsafe Bus🚐 we’re making great strides in ensuring Wakefield is a safer place for women and girls, particularly in the nighttime economy.🌃 This collaboration highlights how important it is to share ideas, resources, and successes across cities. Together, we’re stronger and more effective in creating spaces where everyone feels safe and supported. 🌸 I also want to highlight a fantastic tool: Bright Sky, a free app that looks like a weather app but serves as a discreet support service for people experiencing domestic abuse. It’s resources like these that remind us how innovation and compassion can truly save lives.🥰 Thank you to everyone involved in these efforts, it’s amazing what we can achieve when we work together!💞 https://lnkd.in/eyiJr3XQ Nova Wakefield District Wakefield Council Shreena Gobey #SaferTogether #Wakefield #Leeds #Collaboration #NighttimeSafety #BrightSkyApp

  • Thank you so much for having us at Teneo Leeds to mark such an important initiative for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. 💜 This global initiative reminds us of the ongoing need to raise awareness of and take action against gender-based violence - a pervasive issue that impacts countless lives around the world. 💜 It’s inspiring to see employers taking personal protection and safety training above and beyond their responsibility, fostering an environment where awareness and action against gender-based violence are prioritised. 🥰 Empowering individuals with the tools to protect themselves is just one step toward a safer world, and we’re honored to be part of your efforts to raise awareness and make a difference. Together, we can continue to advocate for change and build a culture of safety and respect. 🌸 #16daysofaction #endingvawg #genderbasedviolence

  • 💄Maddie’s Story This is a powerful and commendable initiative. Wakefield Council and Empath Theatre are using storytelling and creative platforms to shed light on the often-overlooked aspects of domestic abuse, especially the non-physical forms. By sharing Maddie’s story and highlighting diverse perspectives, the campaign not only raises awareness but also encourages empathy and action during the annual 16 Days of Action against domestic abuse. The use of relatable formats like #GRWM (Get Ready With Me) and vlogger-style content makes the message accessible, particularly to younger audiences. It’s a reminder that domestic abuse can affect anyone and that support is available. Sharing survivor stories helps break the silence and stigma, empowering both victims and those who want to change their behavior. The call to action—visiting the link, sharing the message, and promoting awareness—reinforces the community’s role in addressing this issue. This is an inspiring way to foster understanding, solidarity, and hope for those impacted. Are you in a relationship that is controlling or coercive? Or do you know someone who is? You are not alone. Help is available. Call WDDAS on 0800 915 1561 or speak to someone you trust. Read more about coercive control and how to spot the signs on the Refuge website. https://lnkd.in/emXUk8UM Wakefield Council Empath Theatre CIC

  • On White Ribbon Day, Blossom Training and Development acknowledges that our training is often viewed as a reactive response to situations of violence against women and girls (VAWG). However, we are deeply committed to promoting educational tools and strategies that serve as proactive measures, aiming to prevent such violence before it occurs. By equipping individuals and organisations with the knowledge and skills to challenge harmful behaviors and attitudes, we strive to contribute to a culture of respect, equality, and safety for all. #WhiteRibbonDay #whiteribboncampaign #vawg #EndViolenceAgainstWomen
