After a brilliant evening with Ricky Gervais (okay... watching Ricky Gervais 😉 ) I was up early for a business breakfast hosted by Suffolk Mind. Although I don't do much HR now, I went along to support my friends at Blue Star Human Resources Ltd who were the sponsors. I also attended because I completed Suffolk Mind's Comprehensive Toolkit training in 2013, and I wanted to be able to speak to people about that. For me, the knowledge I gained gave me a huge amount of confidence in speaking to people who are struggling, understanding my responsibilites, helping to pinpoint signposts and open up judgement-free conversations. And of course, this training is not just to benefit employees and work colleagues, it can be really beneficial to help your friends and family - and I keep a set of 'emotional needs and resources' cards on my desk to help me as I move up and down the mental health continuum. We had a great morning at the Suffolk Mind The Mental Health Toolkit by Suffolk Mind Packages Launch of which we are a very proud sponsor. Our lovely Lynn Rozier did a wonderful talk which made us think whilst we are busy supporting others, who is supporting us as HR professionals. It was great to meet new people, speak to some of our lovely clients and hear more about the great work Suffolk Mind are doing and how this can be embedded into the workplace.
