At Bluebell Wood we care for children and young adults whose lives are just too short; and their families.
About us
Your support helps us care for children and young adults whose lives are sadly just too short, both in their own homes and at our hospice in North Anston. We believe that every family deserves to make magical memories with their child, whether they have years, months, weeks or days together. Bluebell Wood is a home from home for families facing the toughest of times, with a comfy lounge and beautiful gardens. We’re always cooking up mouth-watering meals and tasty treats in the kitchen for families. There’s also plenty of fun activities for children to try, including soft play, arts and crafts, music therapy and much more. While they’re staying, children stay in one of eight bedrooms. If their whole family is coming, then parents have their own room too. Every day, we need to raise £11,000 to keep our doors open, and just 10% of our funding is from the government. Everything else is paid for by the wonderful work that you do; whether you run, bake or even Brave the Shave. We recently welcomed Ellen Duke, deputy director of children and young people’s nursing for NHS England to Bluebell Wood. During her visit, our chief nurse and care services director gave a tour of the hospice and enjoyed talking about the essential services we offer. Our chief nurse, Michael Tatterton said, 'We were delighted to be able to share the wonderful work of Bluebell Wood and our exciting plans for developing our clinical services with Ellen. We were also pleased to have the opportunity to discuss the role of children's hospices in supporting children and families who rely on palliative care services, alongside colleagues in the NHS.' 💜 💜 💜

“Bluebell Wood is a wonderful local charity and we’re delighted to partner with them for their Christmas tree collection campaign. The team at Blackburn Meadows believes sustainability and community can go hand-in-hand, and recycling Christmas trees and raising money for such a vital cause is a great way to support both.” That’s what Jess Dhariwal, Plant Manager at our Blackburn Meadows biomass energy plant, had to say about the brilliant ‘Recycle Your Christmas Tree’ service, organised by and in support of Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice. At E.ON, we believe in supporting the communities in which we operate, and you can read more about this scheme here: https://gloo.to/F5pm #socialimpact #playmaker
