A huge thank you to Jakob Gowin FIH for spending time with our MSc Hospitality Leadership students this morning. The session covered a number of elements around the strategy of running a property in the busy market of London and the considerations around why innovation is an important element to continue to gain competitive advantage. A great discussion around the multifaceted role of a General Manager and why no two days are ever the same! I loved Jakob's key takeaways for our students: - Your ability to communicate and motivate is more important than any other skill. - Ask questions, make decisions and learn from mistakes. - Listen to others, find a mentor and soak up every bit of information. - Push yourself, be uncomfortable. - Showcase your passion, be a student of the industry. - Build your profile. Dive into the exciting world of competitive socialising and discover how it's transforming the hospitality industry in this article published today in Hospitality & Catering News. From immersive experiences to innovative venues, this trend is reshaping how we connect and have fun. According to research by Mintel (2023) 58% of adults participated in competitive socialising activities in 2019 and this rose to 71% in 2023, and this is just the start. https://lnkd.in/eT9Ctgpu BNU Hotel and Hospitality School Buckinghamshire New University #hospitalityindustry #hospitalityeducation #WeAreBNUHHS #competitivesocialising

The nice thing about teaching #hospitality is you also get the chance to promote your courses to the global community. I am currently spending time in Nepal with Sam Poulton taking in the country’s atmosphere and talking to prospective students and agents about our great hospitality related UG and PG subjects at BNU Hotel and Hospitality School, Buckinghamshire New University. There is an amazing vibe about the subjects here and I am looking forward to welcoming our new students in January 2025. Travelling home tomorrow but looking forward to the next opportunity. #WeAreBNUHHS #students #studentrecruitment #HospitalityManagement #HospitalityLeadership

Thank you Kieron Bailey, Marcus Weedon and Raf Baron for an inspiring talk about mentorship and why it matters, and about giving and - most importantly - receiving feedback. Our MSc Hospitality Leadership, BA Hotel and Events Management and BA International Hospitality thoroughly enjoyed the discussions and are looking forward to being matched with their mentors. #hospitalityleadership #hospitalitymanagement #hospitalitymentors

Meet the MAIHHS team! Ahead of the new academic year, we are introducing our small but passionate team - starting with our Head of School Lisa Wyld. Lisa teaches subjects related to events and hospitality, in contexts such as event design and theming, event impacts, hotel and hospitality operations and strategy, consumer behaviour and experiences as well as leadership challenges within the world of hospitality. Working in the hospitality and events industries has taught her most of all about people, that everyone has a story to tell, whether they work in potwash, food and beverage or senior management and she likes to bring this alive in the classroom. #WeAreMAIHHS #HospitalityEducation #HospitalityLeadership #HospitalityProfessionals
