We are thrilled to share that Florence Boot, a key figure in our history, has been celebrated with a place in National Portrait Gallery 🎨 Florence was responsible for diversifying Boots’ retail offering to include toiletries, perfume, and other products for women. She also promoted employee welfare, especially for female team members. Her legacy, recognised at a special event with our team members, representatives from the gallery, descendants of the Boots family, and other friends of Boots, continues to inspire us all. Ornella Barra, WBA International Chief Operating Officer, told guests: “Florence has been a phenomenal, inspirational, example for businesswomen. She definitely was ahead of her times. The importance of combining health and beauty – an idea common today – was truly revolutionary a century ago. We have partnered with food-sharing app Olio • Share More, Waste Less to reduce food waste and support communities. After a successful pilot, the Food Waste Heroes programme is now live in over 660 stores, helping donate surplus food to local communities! 🌏 So far, over 450,000 meals have been distributed to local communities through this new partnership programme. Martin Stead, Store Manager at Boots Huddersfield, said: “This is such a great initiative. We’re delighted to share that we were shortlisted for the 'Partnership of the Year' and 'Building Better Futures' awards at The Prince’s Trust’s Partnership Awards this week. 🏆 This annual ceremony celebrates the power of extraordinary partnerships and our nominations recognise the impact that our business, team members and customers have made to help transform the lives of young people, regardless of their background. During the last five years, we’ve raised £3 million for The King's Trust and supported almost 700 young people with opportunities for employment through our ‘Get Into’ and ‘World of Work’ programmes. This year alone, 25 stores across the UK have provided placements, with many young people successfully securing positions as Customer Advisors over the Christmas period. We also delivered our first ‘Get Started in Empowerment’ event, which brought young people together from across our home county to join us at Nottingham Pride. Well done to all the team members across our stores, warehouses, customer support centre and support office who have supported our partnership. With your help, we’ve provided meaningful opportunities for young people to develop the skills, confidence, and self-esteem they need to live happy and healthy lives. 👏
