Season's Greetings from BPTW! We are very proud of the successes and milestones achieved this year, pushing the boundaries of architectural excellence and community-led, sustainable design. The festive image below depicts a wintery-scene at one of our standout later-living projects, Valley Drive, where we have showcased our expertise in specialist affordable housing. The high-quality design for Gravesham Borough Council creates a sustainable, comfortable, and affordable living environment that fosters a sense of community and belonging for residents. As we look forward to 2025, we are excited to continue delivering innovative designs that transform people’s lives. #laterliving #specialistdesign #architecture #christmas #affordablehousing #gravesend

We are proud to share that earlier this week everyone at BPTW came together to donate a total of 141 kilograms of food and drink to Greenwich Foodbank. This vital local charity supports individuals and families in crisis, providing emergency food supplies to those who are struggling. Additionally, one BPTW team took part in a Secret Santa challenge that raised over £300, which was distributed across 22 charities supporting causes ranging from mental health to homelessness, and from cancer research to children's welfare. The list of charities that benefitted from the donations include: Mind , bigmoose, Maytree, Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP), UNITED24, British Heart Foundation, Breast Cancer UK, Cancer Research UK (CRUK), Her Centre, Women's Aid Federation of England, Furnishing Futures, Movember, 999 Club, Shelter, Sirkhane Social Circus School, Music Action International Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation, Life Chance Trust, Open Doors Initiative, RSPCA, Shelter from the Storm, Save the Children UK These efforts are part of our ongoing commitment to support those in need during the festive season. Earlier this month we took part in Christmas Jumper Day, raising money for Save the Children UK and made a donation to the 999 Club, a local homelessness charity that offers support to vulnerable people in our community. We are proud of our workforce's recent charitable efforts and look forward to continuing to make a difference in our communities. #ChristmasGiving #Charity #CommunitySupport #BPTW #GivingBack

The conclusion of the Hemel Garden Communities (HGC) Strategic Design Code marks another successful milestone for BPTW's Urban Design Team. BPTW led the multi-disciplinary team, working with HTA Design LLP and Urban Movement to deliver the draft code for Dacorum Borough Council and St Albans City & District Council. Developed through close collaboration with council officers, councillors and key stakeholders, the draft code will guide the future development of northern and eastern Hemel Hempstead, integrating new neighbourhoods as part of the “One Hemel” regeneration approach and supporting the HGC Framework Plan aiming to deliver 11,000 new homes and facilities. BPTW's draft code focuses on key themes of Green & Blue Infrastructure, Transport & Mobility, and Placemaking, aligning with national design standards. The Strategic Design Code has been submitted as part of the local plans' evidence base, setting the stage for Hemel’s vibrant future. Last week marked the final Women in Social Housing (WISH) London event of the year with the fantastic WISH London Winter Party. The event raised vital funds for Crisis, a cause close to our hearts at BPTW. As residential architects, we’re committed to designing high-quality affordable housing, tackling homelessness, and creating supportive communities for everyone. Associate Anna Kadziolka, a specialist in affordable later-living design who is particularly passionate about addressing homelessness in the elderly population, was in attendance alongside BPTW colleagues Polina Koval, Meryl Le Fleur, and Alexandra Earland, connecting with both new and familiar faces. We look forward to getting involved in more WISH events and meeting like-minded professionals through the network in 2025. #SocialHousing #AffordableHousing #WISH #Crisis #BPTW

As a #local #Greenwich business this is refreshing to hear! If #Council's are going to get anywhere near the #housing #targets we need to be pulling in the same direction and working together to be as effective as possible. #Procurement is an area that needs to be streamlined to minimise wasted resources and time. #affordable #housing #SocialValue Royal Borough of Greenwich Mayor of London Joanna Averley
Really encouraging to hear from Pippa Hack and colleagues from Royal Borough of Greenwich at this morning's presentation to businesses highlighting the importance of Social Value in meeting RBG's corporate objectives and the progress the Council is making to make sure procurement works better. Especial thanks to solicitor Mark Cook for an excellent and very refreshing presentation that drew attention to the many barriers that SMEs face in public procurement, the need for greater transparency, and how effective contract management is required to ensure that what is offered is actually delivered.

Senior Architect Frances Abrahamsen has led a series of 'Introduction to Architecture’ workshops at schools across London and Kent, as Part of our Careers in the Built Environment programme, in collaboration with the RIBA National Schools Programme. Our programme was launched to open career opportunities to young people, particularly to those local to our studio in Greenwich, and break down entry barriers into the built environment profession. The workshops were delivered to a range of age groups, each uniquely tailored to cater to every school’s individual curriculum, including a workshop developed specifically for a local SEN school, enabling students to apply their classroom learning to the development of a design proposal. A teacher from one of the schools said, “the feedback from the students was overwhelmingly positive… our head of Year 11 said that it was the best careers-type presentation he had ever seen!” You can read more about Frances’ school workshops and BPTW's Careers In The Built Environment programme on our website: https://lnkd.in/eeyq8JBM #careersinthebuiltenvironment #architecture #careerworkshops

#Podcast Incoming! >>> https://lnkd.in/enDzJ2gJ A few weeks ago, Justin Kelly joined a round table discussion with calfordseaden and Hill Group UK to reflect on the Building Safety Act one year on. Whilst it is something that we have embraced at BPTW, and is part of our project processes on all schemes, not just High Risk Buildings, we’re finding there is still some way to go in the industry to ensure the scope is properly understood by all involved and that the resourcing required is adequately funded. Have a listen to the chat between Amy Farr, Jonathan Harris, Andy Mullins FCIOB, FCABE and Justin, and let us know your experiences. #buildingsafetyact
