This week we attended this year’s Scottish Cancer Conference, where Neil Gray MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care, highlighted the importance of investing in cancer research, clinical trials, and AI for early detection. A key moment was the moving speech from our Patron, Theo Burrell, who shared her personal journey living with a brain tumour, reminding us: "It's not what you’ve been given, it’s what you do with what you’ve got." Today, we remember Simon Penwright, a devoted husband, father, and an inspiration to all who knew him. Diagnosed with a multifocal glioblastoma (GBM) in January 2023, Simon faced his journey with incredible strength and positivity, supported by his loving wife, Emily, and their family. Despite the challenges, Simon and Emily shared their story to raise awareness of this devastating disease and to help fund research into brain tumours. Their efforts, alongside the support of their community, raised over £50,000 for Brain Tumour Research. Simon’s courage, determination, and love for life continue to inspire us as we work towards our vision of finding a cure for all types of brain tumours.
