We're thrilled to be able to announce the talented writers joining our New Writing mission. As part of the theatre’s Five Year Commitment residency – a programme of support for UK writing talent at all stages of their careers - Hannah Khalil, Sam Parker and Muneera Pilgrim have been invited to join award-winning playwright Winsome Pinnock in the scheme. The writers will be on attachment to Bristol Old Vic until January 2030. This cohort of writers represents Bristol Old Vic’s desire to support homegrown talent based in and from the South West region alongside nurturing inspiring voices from across the country, with the intention of sharing their work with audiences here in Bristol. Alongside the Five Year Commitment, Bristol Old Vic’s ambition to support Early Career playwrights took a leap forward with the announcement of the four writers who have joined the theatre’s inaugural Early Career Writers Group. Open to writers based in the South West, this is a new free-to-access programme hosted by Bristol Old Vic and led by local playwright Ross Willis (Wolfie, Wonder Boy) to support those at the very beginning of their career to take bold next steps with their practice. Sukina Noor, Erin Peacock, Raynor Taylor and Roxana Vilk are the first cohort of this scheme and are working with BOV from December 2024 to May 2025. This week, we’re taking part in #TheBigGive Christmas Challenge raising money for our work with young people that tackles the inequality of access to creativity in Bristol 🎄 👉With arts education in state schools at risk for 93% of young people, the creative education activity Bristol Old Vic provides is more vital than ever before. 🙌With your support, Bristol Old Vic can continue to deliver free weekly drama sessions across Bristol, through projects such as Young Company City which removes barriers to participation in creative theatre. 🎅 The Big Give Christmas Challenge is a week-long, annual event which helps charities (like us) fundraise for amazing projects like this. For every donation we receive during the challenge, The Big Give will double it at no extra cost to you, thanks to The Reed Foundation. ⭐️All donations made between 3rd – 10th Dec will be doubled! ⭐️ If you would like to support 👉 https://lnkd.in/e3ivQ9-a #GivingTuesday Reed #TheBigGiveChristmasChallenge @BigGive
