Building the Future of Women’s Basketball. Before the Great Britain Women’s team played last week, 70 girls from across Greater Manchester and the North West came together for the FIBA Her World, Her Rules event. 🏀 The event provided an opportunity for girls to either experience basketball for the first time or enhance their fundamental skills. Through a variety of drills and games, it was a truly inspiring day for everyone involved. #GBBasketball

British Basketball Federation Statement. Progress has been made towards the award of long-term men's premier professional basketball league licence as preferred bidder is announced. The BBF Board has agreed to grant “preferred bidder” status to a group led by former EuroLeague Acting CEO and Portland Trail Blazers President Marshall Glickman, together with Chris Dillavou and Arjun Metre who are experienced executives and investors in the sports, media and tech industries. Chris Grant OBE, Chair of the British Basketball Federation said:  “This is a pivotal moment as we work to fulfil British Basketball’s enormous potential. Basketball is the country’s second most-played team sport and the professional game has captured the attention and sparked the passion of Britons of all backgrounds. Marshall Glickman's group bring huge basketball and business knowhow. They have embraced the vision of British Basketball as a force for good, which can already be seen in the substantial contributions made by the existing professional clubs in their communities. Today the British Basketball Federation is excited to announce it has been allocated £2.925 million by UK Sport for the period leading to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. The award is augmented by Sport England's announcement of an additional £1.55 million, channelled through Basketball England, aimed primarily at boosting GB’s performance in the exciting 3X3 form of the game. In total, this represents a more than threefold increase in public funding for elite basketball at GB level.   This award - the first time that UK Sport and Sport England have joined forces in this way - responds to an integrated plan put forward by the BBF and Basketball England.   “British Basketball has entered a new era.
