Their latest 2000 model has everything we have dreamed about. Native AirPlay? Check. Miracast? Yep. Chrome browser sharing? You bet. It can basically handle almost everything. Remember when tech warranties felt like a joke? 😅 Well, Extron is stepping up with a 𝟕-𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐲 on PSUs. In today's "replace everything every two years" world, this bold move, mentioned during my interview with Keith Burley, caught my attention. Their new UCS601 USB-C dock? Think 𝐒𝐰𝐢𝐬𝐬 𝐀𝐫𝐦𝐲 𝐤𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲. Plug in one cable, and everything just works. It's efficient and user-friendly — but that’s not all that impressed me. Extron is tackling real challenges for AV professionals: • PoE+ solutions for simplified installations. • Compact encoders to streamline workflows. • A complete AV-over-IP ecosystem! That said, my attempt to access training for their #AVoIP system hit an unexpected roadblock. I got a 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: "There is huge demand for this course and limited supply of sessions available. For this reason, it is only available to Extron's trading partners who are working on projects requiring the use of Pro software." While I admire their commitment to durability and innovation — especially avoiding planned obsolescence — this "Extron trading partners only" policy feels 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 in a fast-evolving and highly competitive AVoIP landscape. Why? Because: 1. 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: By limiting access, Extron risks missing out on a broader user base that could champion their solutions. 2. 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐞: In an ecosystem with open innovation and more accessible training programs, exclusivity can alienate potential customers and integrators.
