Why is Building Inclusion important? 📹 We are still basking in the afterglow of the London launch event that has been described as electric, spellbinding, and joyous. Whilst we can't recreate these feelings entirely we asked the audience at #BuildingInclusion The Event for their reflections on The Book, The Work, and The Event. I promised to share this to hold myself #accountable for being #inclusive not just in how the event looked for people to attend, but how it was put together and the #suppliers used. So, where the money came from and who it went to, is all listed here. What did it take to pull off Building Inclusion - The Book, The Work, The Event? It's a matter of #integrity to role-model the #transparency I advocate for, and so, as promised, next week I'll upload to my socials and to the book website, an #ethical and #sustainability audit, where the money came from, where it went, and who was involved. I'm just awaiting for some more input to my demographic survey. For now though, I wish to take the opportunity to thank the supply partners The London School of Architecture, Ilona McKie, Phoebe Jean Gosling, Lucy Kevill , MOVOCAST , 3 Gents Event Catering, Aminata Kamara, VoiceBox. The Event itself cost about £25k in total, and I raised £14.5k+VAT in sponsorship. 📖 #Throwback to the launch of Building Inclusion - The Book in London.  We had the pleasure of attending Marsha Ramroop FRSA FIEDP’s book launch of her new book “Building Inclusion” last week at the The London School of Architecture.  Built environment professionals, students, and members of the general public came together to celebrate Marsha and her powerful work on improving equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in the sector.  📢 Shoutout to Marsha, Unheard Voice, Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation, and Building People CIC for creating a successful book launch and hosting an inspiring and insightful evening.  Thanks to moderator Aminata Kamara and the panellists Marsha, Neal Shasore, Arthur Mamou-Mani, Pareisse Wilson and Russell Curtis for a great and thought-provoking panel discussion.   We are still thinking about how inspirational the evening was… 💭 so much so that we have written a blog about it (link in comments) 👀. Building Inclusion - The Event 📒 Last Thursday The London School of Architecture hosted the London book launch for Building Inclusion. Building Inclusion author Marsha Ramroop FRSA FIEDP, delivered a powerful keynote which called for action to ‘deliver on our motivations to find a different future for the built environment sector’. She passionately explained that buying the book won’t bring change, and provided strategic, actionable insights that empowered the audience to implement meaningful commitments within their organisations, driving the necessary transformative change. The keynote was followed by a panel discussion with Neal Shasore, Arthur Mamou-Mani, Pareisse Wilson and Russell Curtis, who discussed the vital pillars outlined in the book: Attract, Retain, Create, Engage. The evening was about influencing change, to create inclusive spaces and an inclusive world. As you will hear in the video, Marsha wanted the audience to take away an actionable commitment to change, because when you change your world, you change the world.
