Designed to meet BREEAM Outstanding standards, this £74M project is the first in the West Midlands to target the highest level of sustainability certification. For the construction industry, this signals a shift towards leaner, lower-carbon designs, with key innovations including: • Post-tensioned concrete slabs that reduce steel use by up to 50%. • A distinctive terracotta-clad façade, built offsite to lower embedded carbon. • A focus on passive cooling, reducing reliance on traditional air conditioning. The Government Property Agency has appointed Mace to build the new headquarters for the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) at the University of Reading’s Whiteknights campus. The results are in from our latest poll about the construction industry's readiness to comply with the new PPE mandate! 🦺 It seems there's a bit of a divide in how the sector feels. 33% of you are confident that the industry is fully ready and agree that this change was long overdue. Another 33% believe we're mostly ready but still need some clarity on certain aspects.
