Futurebuild 2022 marked the launch of our latest product: the LoCem® Modular Anode Unit (MAU). This is an impressed current cathodic protection (#ICCP) component created specifically for #newbuild structures, implementing #corrosion protection from day ONE ✅ We are experiencing more aggressive environments with the rise of #climatechange, so ensuring #sustainable resilience from the earliest stages is vital! Chloride testing Contamination from de-icing salts or carbonation in reinforced concrete structures accelerate the effects of corrosion to the structural steel. Assessing the risk to an asset is therefore an important step before designing and implementing a repair and protection strategy. Chloride ions are tested by depth through the structure in multiple locations identified after the initial half cell survey is complete. This allows us to accurately test the most at-risk areas of a structure and compare with apparent lower risk locations, so we can provide clarity of risk to the client on which to base their best next steps to mitigate any further damage to their assets. How we gather the samples Step 1: Locate representative locations for sampling from the half-cell potential contour maps. Step 2: Drill into the decking from 0-5mm discarding the top surface Step 3: Drill in increments of 25mm to at least the depth of the steel reinforcement Step 4: Carefully gather the dust sample and place it into a labelled bag Step 5: Clean after each depth sample recovery to mitigate any cross contamination Step 6: Transport samples to a UKAS accredited laboratory for testing to BS 1881: Part 124

LoCem® +point® is a low carbon repointing anode mortar that allows a low current to be passed so it can protect masonry-clad structural steel frames from corrosion. The product can also be used as a discrete anode mortar for reinforced concrete structures. Type III independently verified EPD is also available in combination with AchillesICP management systems for defined circularity. See the video below to view the benefits. Whole life cycle of carbon Upfront carbon Start of life -Reuse, recycle and recover Product -Raw material -Transport to the manufacturing unit -Manufacturing emissions Procure: -Transport to site -Work on site Embodied carbon In use stage: -Product is in use -Maintenance -Repair -Replace -Refurbish -Operational energy -Operational water Waste of embodied carbon End of life: -Deconstruction -Transport -Waste processing -Disposal If we put systems in place to protect the steel within a structure like Impressed current cathodic protection we can eliminate the need to deconstruct allowing the preservation of the embodied carbon. Corrosion occurs in steelframe buildings when moisture penetrates the external façade over time and fails to release back into the atmosphere, usually by being trapped within voids in the mason’s mortar infill between the masonry and the steel. Stage 1: Initiation of corrosion to steel but little visible disruption to the masonry Stage 2: Rust forming in exfoliated layers causing movement and cracking of masonry Stage 3: Significant risk to the integrity of the asset with health and safety of falling masonry in extreme cases If you have an asset you are concerned or a project that needs some assistance about please call us on 01744611555 or send a DM direct to us on here

We have defined reinforced concrete condition on many structures over the years that have lead to #awardwinning #wholelife #preservation of the assets with long-term resilience management of corrosion. Condition Survey Techniques used, include : Half-cell potential surveys (full surface contour mapping and 3-D intrusive). Concrete cover to reinforcement. Delamination surveys. Ground penetrating radar surveys. Ultrasound pulse echo assessment. Schmidt hammer surveys. Chemical testing using UKAS accredited laboratories. Benefits for the client: Risk analysis of corrosion condition now and future development. Analysis of acceleration effects from chemical ingress. Conceptual design development for remedial planning. Planned preventative maintenance planning. Service life extension for the structural asset. Cost certainty.

Our +shot® sprayed concrete anode operates as an impressed current cathodic protection (ICCP) anode. It is installed using a conventional dry and wet spray concrete equipment and finishing tools. It operates as a bonded cover to concrete substrates that have been surface prepared by high pressure water or grit-blasting. LoCem +shot can be used in combination with LoCem shot sprayed concrete as a repair strategy for long-term corrosion protection of structures, such as quaysides, wharves, tunnels, culverts or abutments. Designed to ISO15257:2017 and operated in accordance with ISO12696:2022 it also has proven to be resistant to acids, sulphates and fire to 1200C for over 5 hours. The system solution has Type III independently verified EPD defined at BRE Global operated using AchillesICP network management system and operated remotely online with AiMS.
