Today, we celebrated the retirement of our Senior Commercial Manager, Paul Coulson, after an incredible 25 years with Spencer Group. Staff were in attendance for Paul’s farewell presentation at Humber Quays, where we shared a tribute from Executive Chairman Charlie Spencer and enjoyed some memorable funny stories from Paul's journey with us. Wishing you all the best as you enjoy your well-deserved retirement, Paul! 👏

Spencer Group has delivered a sprinkling of Christmas magic to teenagers living with cancer this festive season🎄 Our colleagues donated gift boxes packed with goodies to Teenage Cancer Trust units in the North of England, as part of our year-long campaign to support the charity. Customer Relationship Manager Diane Rowe, and Assurance Manager Lee Daniels visited the Teenage Cancer Trust unit at Castle Hill Hospital in Cottingham, along with Charity representatives Heather Bowen and Chloe Walker. Throwback to when Spencer Group delivered a complex, turnkey bulk handling project for Drax Power, integrating in-house design, rail, process design, and M&E expertise. Constructing two bulk storage silos capable of holding 24,000m3 of biomass wood pellets, the unloading system featured a subterranean setup with vibrating feeders and conveyors, moving biomass at 2,800 tonnes per hour. Incorporating a 22m-high structure with screening, sampling, and separation equipment, the facility includes 800m of conveyors, 8,000m³ of material moved, and over 1,000 tonnes of fabricated steel. Close collaboration with Drax allowed us to overcome challenges, including the development of a continuous unloading system which reduced unloading time from one hour to 30 minutes.

It's Christmas Jumper Day! 🎅 Staff got into the festive spirit, donning their finest festive-themed jumpers, socks and hats to raise funds for Robin House in Balloch, Scotland, which is part of the Children's Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) Scotland (CHAS) Charity. Robin House is located just a few miles from our Erskine Bridge project, so it's extra special to see us raising money for a Charity that's based so close to our site.
