True to its original glamorous spirit, Café Royal, a hotel of The Set, has reopened as a luxury 5 star hotel in the heart of central London. With elegant Mayfair to the west and creative Soho to the east, Hotel Café Royal is perfectly positioned within walking distance of London’s finest shopping streets, tourist attractions and theatreland. Paying homage to the history of the building, grand historic areas have been sensitively restored and a selection of restaurants, bars and events spaces are a tribute to the rich heritage of excellent hospitality and dining. In its reincarnation this iconic London landmark now features 160 contemporary guestrooms, including 54 suites and seven signature suites. Continuing its celebrated legacy, Hotel Café Royal offers a selection of restaurants and bars for guests to enjoy. At the heart of the hotel, the Ten Room offers British informal dining all-day, while the Green Bar is the perfect place to relax and unwind with a cocktail. Restored to revive the ornate Louis XVI décor and detailing, the jewel of the hotel, the Oscar Wilde Bar (formerly the iconic Grill Room, originally established in 1865), is now the place to enjoy afernoon tea. The Café, on Regent Street, revives the European tradition of café culture and is home to London's first dessert restaurant. To complete the full experience, the Akasha Holistic Wellbeing Centre is an urban retreat spanning over 1,200sqm/13,000sqft. Akasha is leading a new concept of wellbeing, featuring a state-of-the-art-gym, large lap pool, Watsu pool, sauna and Hammam, and offering a range of signature treatments and wellbeing experts which marry innovative Western practices with ancient Eastern traditions. Let's shine the spotlight on Kyle Abella, Groups & Events Coordinator, who plays a crucial role in upholding our high standards of excellence within the Events department. 1. Could you describe your role at the hotel and what your typical day looks like? As an Events Coordinator, I manage incoming phone and email inquiries, ensuring each is directed to the appropriate manager. I also prepare and distribute the Banqueting Event Order (BEO) to the operations, kitchen, and pastry teams, keeping everyone informed of any updates for upcoming events. Additionally, I create labels and menus, making sure that dietary requirements and allergens are clearly identified, so our team is well-prepared. 2. How did you end up in your current position at Hotel Café Royal? I first learned about Hotel Café Royal at a job fair hosted by the University of Greenwich, where I connected with the Recruitment Manager, Melissa Wong. We kept in touch, and as I approached graduation, I reached out to her again. This led to the opportunity to join the team, and I’m proud to now contribute to such a prestigious hotel. 3. What do you enjoy most about working at our hotel, and how do you think it sets us apart in the hospitality industry? I truly appreciate the supportive environment and the willingness of my colleagues to help me grow in my role. The comprehensive induction process, especially the team-building activities, made it easier to connect with my colleagues right from the start.
