The carrier fraction of coarse particles is used to facilitate the pharmaceutical filling and metering process of formulations for dry powder inhalers. However, it provides no benefit to the patient - it impacts in their mouth and throat during inhalation, and any drug particles still attached do not reach the lung, and can lead to unwanted side effects, and cause coughing. The left image shows the formulation as filled into the Quattrii blister, comprised of blue "mimic" drug and coarse lactose carrier particles. The right image shows what is retained within the Quattrii blister following inhalation. What makes Quattrii unique is its ability to retain the majority of the carrier fraction in the blister while efficiently delivering a fine aerosol of drug to the lungs. We’re excited to share more about Quattrii at Drug Delivery to the Lungs Conference (DDL) next week, and look forward to seeing you there! #DDL2024 #inhalation #respiratory
