About us
Cambridge has championed collaboration to become one of the leading science and technology clusters in the world. A reputation built on world-leading innovation, fast-growing science and tech companies, academia, and innovation centres - underpinned by investment, people and skills. To support and further progress this world-leading position requires inclusive collaboration across the Cambridge community. Designed to provide the whole community a chance to visit and experience the cluster first-hand, o2h created Cambridge Wide Open Day. In a first of its kind event, Cambridge Wide Open Day offered a unique insight into the city’s world-renowned science and technology. The Season 2 of this event will be held on 12th June 2024 welcoming visitors from across the Cambridge community - from scientists, techies, people working across different sectors to residents - to explore the innovations in Cambridge. Companies will open their doors from 11.00 am to 3.00 pm, and bus and VIP tours are available. To top off the day, all participants are invited to a garden party reception at the o2h co-work labs at Hauxton House, Mill SciTech Park from 4.00 pm. Kudos 👏 to St John's Innovation Centre Ltd for hosting such an inspiring art exhibition! Founded in 1987, they’ve been a sector-agnostic hub for innovative companies, helping businesses scale up, go international, and secure growth capital. We’re proud to have partnered with 𝗦𝘁 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻’𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 as a venue for Cambridge Wide Open Day over the past two years. Their support has brought some of the best companies to showcase their incredible work at our event.
If you've stepped foot inside the Centre recently, you may have noticed that we have a wonderful new art exhibition running. We invited some of our favourite artists from this summer's Cambridge Open Studios exhibition to bring in a larger variety of their work, which has delivered another fantastic variety of colours, textures, and moods. Titled “Range”, and curated by SJIC's COO Stephanie Martlew, we’ve hung and displayed more than 90 pieces across the building. Francesco Ponzo from SJIC-based company VNC Automotive was one of the first to buy one of the pieces which are all available to purchase. All artists have a small biography located near their work, so you can find out more about them and get in touch with the artist directly. Members of the public are very welcome to come and view the exhibition which is running until October 2025. If you’d like a map, please ask at reception. At the weekend I was walking through the Cambridge University Botanic Garden with my 3 year old. I scrolled through LinkedIn and saw various posts about the conclusion of Cambridge Tech Week. It made me reflect on how lucky we are to be in such close proximity to Cambridge. It’s a beautiful city, undeniably so, full of history and grandeur but from a tech perspective we are really quite blessed with what’s on offer. The city is home to a hugely diverse, talent-rich environment, it feels incredibly unique. Having an 800 year old, top-five globally ranked university shows learning and innovation is firmly at our core but we’re now also home to the UK’s very own, affectionately named, Silicon Fen, a thriving tech hub! Our city also plays host to a wide variety of inclusive and inspiring tech events. Whether it be Cambridge Wide Open Day (photos below), Cambridge Women In Tech or Cambridge Tech Week to name a few. There is always someone new to collaborate with or something new to be learnt. It’s no wonder our tech eco-system was recently valued at a staggering $191 billion, more than Spain & Italy combined!
