A rainy day site visit this morning with our client, exploring a potential barn conversion project to transform an aged barn into modern dwellings. The existing property is full of historical character, with old brickwork and trusses, a huge internal volume and open views across the fields presenting lots of interesting design opportunities. We’re committed to delivering thoughtful designs that respect each site’s unique character. Exciting progress on our Bromley project of 72 apartments! The transformation of the ‘Y Buildings’ continues with significant advancements in the second building, Ann Springman Hall. We’re now at the demolition stage, with superstructure work already underway. Meanwhile, in Joseph Lancaster Hall (the first building), the internal fitout and 1st fix MEP continues with the first show flat being ready for viewing early next year. This ambitious refurbishment of two mid-20th Century office buildings into 72 contemporary apartments, located in the beautiful parkland setting near the historic Listed Bishop’s Palace, is a true testament to innovative design and teamwork. Today we attended the Daniel Connal Partnership Darts tournament Final where we watched a close game between Chris Talford and Harvey Gates from Daniel Connal Partnership and Harry Jones and Katie Leeder from Bidwells. After hanging on double 1 for a while Daniel Connal Partnership took the win! Congratulations to both teams for a great game and to the winning team Daniel Connal Partnership. Yesterday, we had the pleasure of welcoming Greg Norman from Survey Solutions for an interesting CPD session! Greg took us through their impressive suite of services—covering everything from drone data capture and 3D topographical surveys to lidar, mobile mapping, laser scanning, GPR radio detection, rebar scanning, and CCTV drainage surveys. The use of these technologies, coupled with case studies showing their real-world applications, highlighted just how essential precision data capture is in elevating architectural design and streamlining workflows. Yesterday, one of our Directors, Jon Brent, visited Sheringham High School and Sixth Form to deliver a career talk, inspiring students considering a future in architecture. He discussed the multifaceted role of an architect, from designing spaces that harmonise aesthetics and functionality to addressing real-world challenges through sustainable practices. Jon also explored the future of architecture, emphasising how AI and sustainability are transforming the industry.
