Last week, some of our colleagues had the pleasure of spending time at Bournemouth Royal Hospital. The team benefitted from some great learning and discussion with Bournemouth clinical staff who shared their thoughts and insights on the CT workflow. The feedback from both parties was that it was an enjoyable & productive week, made better by the kindness of our colleagues and the friendly, and very tolerant clinical staff. #CT #R&D #BournemouthHospital

When STEM becomes STEAM and why it matters to us all. Simply put, STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. ‘A’ for Arts introduces design thinking and creativity into an equation which is crucial for industry led innovation. Design led thinking really rocket fuels productivity and technological advancements in industry. It was important to showcase the wealth of related career options at the popular Knox Academy career event held last night in Haddington DYW East Lothian Speaking with 55+ exhibitors both parents and pupils heard how opting for an arts related subject including design, technology and manufacture or graphic communications during course choicing can help broaden future employability options. Both parents and pupils shared lightbulb moments when they heard how design led thinking is used. They left inspired to fully consider subject choice and career options, hearing for example how: - World leading Canon Medical Research Europe Ltd. use data visualisation, AI and coding within diagnostic X-ray systems, CT systems and MRIs to develop services that improve the quality of healthcare using innovative technologies. - Multi Award winning global leader in gaming, 4J Studios Ltd bring gaming to everyone with their teams of designers, programmers and artists. 4J’s, ethos is to combine innovation, creativity, and technical excellence with efficient production practices. - Multi Award Winning Consulting Civil, Structural & Conservation Engineers, Will Rudd deliver their first class service, using an eye for creative visualisation on all matters relating to the design of structures. - Tangram Furnishers work with clients, designers and architects on a wide variety of interior design projects including homes, offices, restaurants, cafes, museums and golf clubs. - Balfour Beatty plc use innovative technologies including drones, VR headsets and robotics to improve sustainable construction processes and drive down health and safety risk. At DYW Edinburgh, Midlothian & East Lothian, we work to support positive employment destinations for all. How much more enriching and fulfilling those roles can be, when we are able to deploy our full skillset. Thanks to all the parents, businesses, training providers and educational establishments that carved out time to support our future workforce. If you'd like to get involved in inspiring our young people in the classroom or at events like this, please connect and we can explore the best fit for you.
