It might feel like the climate lift just got heavier, but last Wednesday might prove to be a catalyst for even more progress…
Yes, last Wednesday’s result could have a profound impact for everyone concerned with climate. Potential tearing up of climate policies, defunding environmental agencies & protections and ‘drilling baby, drilling’. Another 4 years of environmental progress, potentially wasted.
As depressing as that initially appears, there seems to be a silver lining taking shape….
Seeing the supportive, collaborative posts on LI compelling each other to stand firm, to keep working hard in service of environmental goals, has been inspiring. It reminded me of the growing army of people that are committed to working in pursuit of supporting our climate. From founders, investors, advisors, brand strategists, storytellers, marketeers, sales people, advocates, lawyers to name a few.
We can use this moment to further galvanise us, to become more driven, more focused.
A recent article in Mongabay.com states how the situation is different from 2016. Climate leaders have prepared for this scenario and with green energy making up 40% of GDP in countries like China, economic development is now much more environmentally supportive.
I’m going to cling to all this!
I feel privileged to know and be connected with many people doing wonderful things in the climate space.
To that end, here is a further shout out that may provoke connections and serve as a reminder that we have a community capable of redoubling efforts to keep progressing.
