About us
Caredig is a non-profit social landlord. We provide housing and support to people in Swansea, Neath, Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire. Caredig was formed in 1975 by a group of local people who recognised there was a shortage of good quality, affordable housing available in the Swansea area for people in housing need. In its early years, the Association concentrated its activities in the Swansea City area and provided rented accommodation through the refurbishment of existing, dilapidated houses in Housing Action Areas and General Improvement Areas. It has since expanded to undertake a wide range of new build and regeneration projects throughout a much wider area of operation. The Association’s activities are funded through a mixture of public and private finance. As at March 2024, the Association had 2900 homes in management with the number of homes per Local Authority distributed as follows: • Neath & Port Talbot County Borough Council • City & County of Swansea • Carmarthenshire County Council • Pembrokeshire County Council • Ceredigion County Council The Association provides a wide range of housing solutions for single people, families, older people and people who need support to maintain their tenancy. The Association has formed partnerships with a wide range of statutory and voluntary organisations to provide specialist housing and support services for: - • Homeless people • People with disabilities • Women with support needs • Young vulnerable people • Young people leaving care • People with learning disabilities • People with unsettled backgrounds • People with mental ill-health • Older people with care & and support needs

🌟 Community Clean-Up Initiative in Llanelli 🌟 Our Housing team has been actively working in the Llanelli area over the past few weeks to tidy up the community and prevent fly-tipping on our sites. 🏡✨ In collaboration with Carmarthenshire County Council, we organised an educational recycling day for residents. The event featured discussions on reducing fly-tipping, talks about mixed waste recycling, and valuable feedback on how to make future improvements. ♻️💬 We also distributed energy-saving packs, household cleaning products, and toiletries, which were warmly received by the community. 🌿🧴 The events have been a tremendous success, with a fantastic turnout from local residents. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make a positive impact! 🙌👏 #CommunityEngagement #Sustainability #Recycling #FlyTippingPrevention #EnergySaving #Llanelli

Fire Safety Success Story: A recent incident at one of our properties underscores the importance of early warning systems. A toaster was accidentally activated by items stored on top of it, posing a potential fire hazard. Fortunately, the AICO 3000 series detector quickly alerted the tenant to the danger. The tenant was able to remove the toaster from the property before any damage occurred. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of fire safety across all our properties. Our detectors are installed in compliance with BS5839-6, the standard for fire detection and fire alarm systems in buildings. We encourage our tenants to test any alarms in their homes on a regular basis. Don't wait for #TestItTuesday #HomeSafety #FireSafety #Safety #TestYourAlarms

📢 Procurement is changing due to new legislation, technological advancements, and a focus on sustainability. ❗ From today, February 24th, the #ProcurementAct is now in force. The new regulations aim to make procurement more proactive, prioritising local suppliers wherever possible and ensuring a transparent process. Key opportunities include: - Focus on a wider, holistic value, not just price. The move to Most Advantageous Tender will ensure that procurement decisions aren’t based solely on cost. This approach opens the door for suppliers to showcase the wider social and environmental impact of their efforts, and creates greater opportunities to deliver social, environmental and cultural benefits for communities across Wales. - Flexible procedures. A new competitive flexible procedure will enable Welsh contracting authorities to identify and adopt commercial best practices from across sectors, which will help to improve outcomes, drive innovation and maximise value for money - Stronger stakeholder collaboration Opportunities for early supplier involvement and greater input from end-users will help to shape procurement processes - Encouraging innovation From procuring innovative solutions to adopting cutting-edge procurement practices, this Act is an opportunity to improve efficiency and enhance transparency in Welsh public sector procurement. Caredig has been working on getting ready for these changes, but if you are a supplier, you can read more information here https://lnkd.in/ecR_5swJ

Director of Urban Foundry BCorp - a creative regeneration agency. Swansea University Entrepreneur in Residence, Welsh Government Big Ideas Wales Role Model, FRSA, MMRS.
Big smiles at this month’s Regeneration Swansea meeting! The partnership take it in turns to host and it was our turn to do so at our HQ Urban Kitchen venue this month. Our Kate McCabe ran a workshop updating everyone on our ‘Green the City’ project – a collab with City & County of Swansea Council, Cyfoeth Naturiol Cymru / Natural Resources Wales Resources Wales, and Pobl Group - and discussing next steps when it concludes. The project aims to make Swansea a healthier, greener, and more vibrant city using nature-based solutions (aka ‘green infrastructure’). More trees, greener streets, and spaces that work for both people and wildlife. We’re running a session at the upcoming 4theRegion ‘It’s Your Swansea Conference’ on 6th March if you’d like to get involved! Funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
