The Carey Group is a leading family-owned civil engineering, construction and dry-lining company operating across the UK

About us

Our story starts in 1969 with three brothers and a van. John, Tom and Pat Carey moved to London from Ireland and started a groundworks contracting company in London called PJ Carey Plant Hire (Oval) Ltd. Their aspirations at the time were reflective of the values of the Carey Group today – to care about everything they did, to act with humility in all interactions, to be passionate about their work and be authentic at all times. The Carey Group remains a family-owned construction business, operating across the UK and Ireland. Their goal at the time was to grow to around 50 operatives and provide quality, safe work so that they and their employees could provide for their families and get safe home every day. Through hard work and sticking to their values and their word, this was certainly achieved….and some. Throughout the years, we have remained committed to delivering on our promises, respecting our clients, offering innovative solutions and producing the highest-quality work in safe environments. These are the core principles set by our Founders, the ones we have never wavered from and they help us to fulfil our ultimate vision to be the most trusted and socially responsible construction company, that people are proud to work with. Our strong approach is underpinned by robust financial management, continuous investment in our people, specialist equipment and strategic assets and our long-standing culture of teamwork – we want to create the very best environments for our people. We care about our people and our partners and how we work with them, ensuring we do our best by them. Ultimately, we care about our impact on the world around us and the communities that we proudly help to shape.

We have recently removed the temporary works props at the 105 Victoria Street project in London and recycled the steel to be reused within the new structure.     In collaboration with BGO, Skanska and Celsa Steel UK, the props – totalling 270 tonnes of steel – were recycled by Celsa using their low-carbon Electric Arc Furnace in Wales.     This recycling effort has resulted in a carbon saving of 400 tonnes for the project, aligning with our mission to #FindAlternative ways to deliver sustainability. #105VictoriaStreet #FindAlternative #Sustainability #RecycledSteel #CarbonReduction  BGO | Alexander Morris | Emma Foster | Skanska | Careys | Celsa Steel UK | Express Reinforcements Ltd

Careys are proud to have completed works on behalf of our client, Imperial College London, for their first public garden at White City Deep Tech Campus. The new garden is the first permanent public space at the 23-acre White City Deep Tech Campus. It is a place for Imperial staff, students and researchers, and local businesses to come together and enjoy the outdoors.  Created by GROSS. MAX., an award-winning landscape architecture practice, the garden brings half an acre of new green space to the campus. The garden is built around three interlocking lawn areas, designed to provide space for outdoor events and activities. The lawns are complemented by extensive seating which offers a range of places to take a break or meet informally with colleagues and friends. The seating and tables are made from sustainably sourced Cumaru hardwood, chosen for its durability and longevity. In creating the garden, Imperial’s own sustainability experts helped to select species, with plants and trees chosen for their climate resilience and ability to adapt to a changing environment, as well as support local wildlife. The garden also offers a new space for the many local people who already engage with Imperial’s activities at The Invention Rooms, a unique workshop and design studio where the local community can get hands-on experience of making and prototyping.  #Landscaping #PublicGarden
