About us

Welcome to Carisbrooke Shipping. Carisbrooke Shipping owns / operates a fleet of 29 modern dry cargo and multi-purpose vessels from offices in Cowes (UK) and Rotterdam (NL). All key aspects of ship management are covered by the Carisbrooke Group, including chartering / operations, technical and safety management, crewing and financial administration. The vessels managed are modern, with an average age of around 12 years and excellent safety records, and the company has developed a fleet of fuel-efficient vessels over the past few years. The vessels trade worldwide and are operated by highly-trained, multinational crews. The focus of our first newbuild program back in the 1990s was the European 5,000 dwt coaster market, wherein we already had a presence servicing various trades between North Europe-UK to the Mediterranean and Black Sea, and vice-versa, carrying multiple commodities, but principally grain, fertilizers, coal and steels. The vessels operating since then have shared a multi-purpose open-hatch and box-shaped hold commonality, enabling them to carry various types of cargoes, including containers, palletized cargo, forest products and project cargoes such as pipes, wind mill blades and leisure yachts. In order to meet both customer demand and new developing trades, we upgraded our initial 5,000 dwt new-building program into a deep-sea trans-oceanic version, increasing the sizes to 10,500 dwt and 20,000 dwt and fitting them with heavy-duty self-sustained cranes and tweendecks. The success of this new program helped us in tailoring future new designs of geared 8,000 dwt bulkers, 12,400 dwt MPP-Tween and grab-fitted 13,400 dwt bulkcarriers, which are now the backbone of our deep-sea trade. The company is proud of the level of service it provides to customers and of the standards it upholds.

  • Celebrating Success in the 24 Peaks Challenge! Dear Friends & Partners, We wanted to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for your generous support. Last weekend, twelve determined hikers from Carisbrooke Shipping participated in the 24 Peaks Challenge in the stunning Lake District, raising over £16,500 for The Seafarers’ Charity and Stella Maris. In total, an impressive £100K was raised by the 153 walkers from the international maritime companies. For many of the Carisbrooke team, this was their first time tackling the challenge, guided by seasoned 24 Peaker Robert Wester, who was participating for the 11th time! The Challenge entailed 33 miles (53 km) of walking and 13,000 ft (4,000 m) of ascent, aiming to complete it in 24 hours. Starting at 6 am under the sun by Lake Buttermere, conditions soon changed to mist, rain, hail, and sleet as we reached Scafell Pike, England’s highest point at 978 m. Exhausted, we finished Day 1 around 7:30 pm and headed to Ambleside for a well-deserved rest. Day 2 began early again, with fourteen peaks from Red Screes to Great Dodd. Despite the pain and aches of the previous day, the Carisbrooke team endured, and crossed the finish line around 3 pm winding down with refreshing rehydrating drinks and a dip in Lake Windermere, before embarking on the celebratory cruise. Though we didn’t defend our fastest team title, which went to Braemar (congrats!), our own Robert Wester was awarded the prize for the biggest individual fundraiser. The challenge was tough, but thanks to your incredible support, we surpassed last year’s fundraising for these vital causes. A special thanks to Capt. Simon Merritt for his confident driving and wise advice, having completed the Peaks 10 times himself. Thank you again to everyone who supported our fundraising efforts for these worthy causes. Well done to Team Carisbrooke! Best regards, Beverly, Becky, Kerstin, Alex, Emile, Jonathan, Hannes, Robert H, Vitalii, Capt. Krysz, Capt. Simon, Helen, & Robert W
