On #InternationalDayofEducation , we are looking at how we can become a better learner, which involves leaving our comfort zone. The Learner Lab has really great podcasts and YouTube videos about different aspects of learning. The video below discusses how we can become a better learner and provides a worksheet for us to take action: https://lnkd.in/e4QScYw #growthmindsetfriday #growthmindset #chtcommunity #fostercare #fostering #KeepThePromise #familybasedcare #GPTWCertified

For many, January can be a great month, the New Year has just begun and we can focus on all our New Year’s resolutions and achievements. But for others, January can be a cold dark month with the comedown of the festivities and getting back to normal day to day life. It is believed that your Monday mindset can control the outcome of the Monday blues. There are ways of combating this such as: • Getting physical exercise- such as going to the gym or a walk outside in the fresh air, even 20 to 30 minutes of exercise a day can help combat sadness and boost your mood. • Watch an inspiring film or TV show- by watching your favourite film can help lift your mood and take your mind off the winter weather. If you are not a films person you could consider re-watching your favourite TV show or read a chapter of your favourite book. • Practice Self-care- this can be anything that you enjoy such as lighting a candle, taking a bath or having your favourite meal. • Look up- your mindset has a huge impact on how your Blue Monday looks. Consider this day as a way of focusing on how you want the rest of your year to look. Set small goals and indulge in self-care making is a Monday to remember and re-focus. #wellbeingwednesday #chtcommunity #fostercare #fostering #KeepThePromise #GPTWCertified

Maintaining our January theme of resolutions, this #GrowthMindsetFriday we are looking at trying new things. Trying new things can help us grow, avoid boredom and discover new interests. This will often mean leaving our comfort zone. We covered leaving our comfort zone in a recent learning session on managing and coping with change and we undertook an exercise on where we could all do something at home, at work, with fiends or in our free time where we could trying something new and leave our comfort zone. Trying something new and sticking to it can also rewire our brain as is shown in this really informative video. https://lnkd.in/esSVtNyS What would you like to do to leave your comfort zone? #chtcommunity #KeepThePromise #GPTWCertified #fostercare #fostering #familybasedcare #growthmindset

Our first community event of the year is fast approaching - Scottish Day, celebrating Rabbie Burns. Our Support Workers are organising activities and some very yummy food tasting. If you are looking for ideas for home, the RNIB has a list of accessible activities - making cranachan, using Scots words and a sensory 'haggis' toy. #burnsday #chtcommunity #participation https://lnkd.in/eaM7uwXZ

Last autumn we shared the 'Moving on' consultation with our community. An analysis of the responses is now available on the Scottish Government website. https://lnkd.in/eUY_Sx_B

With a New Year often comes New Year resolutions, whether it is to learn a new skill or get fitter and healthier. However, how often do our New Year’s resolutions last? We have often heard that building a new habit can take 21 days and it is certainly easier to start small and build up. The key to making resolutions stick is also to set specific, measurable, realistic and attainable goals and to find accountability partners to keep you motivated. It is also important to celebrate you small wins by tracking your progress and celebrating your milestones. Be kind to yourself, setbacks can happen, it is better to adjust when you face challenges or setbacks. It is easy to get bogged down in the process of progress, but it is really important to remind yourself why you want to make the change. Good luck if you have set any resolutions, we would love to hear what you would like to achieve this year? #newyear2025 #newyearnewyou #newyearresolution2025 #chtcommunity #GPTWCertified #fostercare #familybasedcare #fostering #KeepThePromise #WellbeingWednesday
