Planning Success in Milton Keynes 🏘️ This week we are focusing on some recent planning successes in the Milton Keynes region. A few months ago, we were very pleased to gain full planning permission for residential development of 110 units and the creation of a new grass pitch and community pavilion in Milton Keynes. This was on behalf of our clients Bellway Homes (North Home Counties). As we begin 2025, it’s a great time to reflect on the past year—the lessons, challenges, and successes we’ve experienced. At Cass Allen, 2024 was a year of growth. ✨ Sparkle Street residential scheme in #Manchester has been given the green light at planning.   The scheme continues re-form’s work in and around the Piccadilly East regeneration area of the city. Significant growth in residential developments here have created a greater need for high quality supporting public realm and outdoor amenity space. With this in mind, re-form has designed a series of roof terrace spaces and streetscape improvements. The site’s heritage as a former timber yard is referenced through large timber seating decks and detailing.  The communal spaces have been conceived at a range of scales, driven through analysis of proxemics (the study of spatial separation of people in various social situations). These studies have informed the design of social spaces for all users, whether it be individuals to escape and read, for couples to relax and talk or for groups to meet and socialise. Delighted to have secured a resolution to grant planning permission for the Sparkle Street proposals at yesterday's Planning Committee in Manchester. Over the past 18 months, Deloitte’s Planning Team has worked hard to test and refine proposals with an exceptional design and client team for a new 359 unit residential scheme in Manchester City Centre within a key regeneration area adjacent to Piccadilly Station. It will deliver much needed high quality homes in an incredibly sustainable location and will be delivered by the excellent JRL Group Ltd with support from Central and Urban. With thanks to Jack Poulton and James Hind at SimpsonHaugh for leading the design co-ordination with technical support from Curtins, re-form Landscape Architecture Ltd, Counter Context Ltd, Watt Energy & Consulting Engineers, Cass Allen and GIA Surveyors, amongst many others. It was a real pleasure to attend the launch of the Leeds Healthy Buildings Network at University of Leeds yesterday. The Network aims to create partnerships between academic, industrial, governmental and clinical stakeholders to transform the vision of indoor spaces. Hearing from the perspective of engineers, geographers, environmental scientists, economists, historians, and more, the key takeaway was an understanding that multidisciplinary cooperation is vital to achieving a safe, sustainable and comfortable built environment.
