Today we are thrilled to launch the CBAMBOO Platform, the purpose-built solution for CBAM compliance! Starting today, #CBAM rules get tough – default values can no longer be used. Importers of CBAM goods must gather real emissions data from their supply chains. Typically, that means asking suppliers to complete arduous spreadsheets that can't be edited once they've been sent out. Not good. The CBAMBOO Platform: – scraps the spreadsheets – offers a simple way to gather data – and your whole supply chain can use it. With CBAMBOO, you can report CBAM in minutes, not weeks. About us
CBAMBOO builds the operating system for the world’s carbon border taxes. Our flagship product, the CBAMBOO Platform, is the best way for firms to comply with the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, a regulation that changes the game for how global industry must tackle the climate crisis. Both EU-based importers and non-EU suppliers can use the CBAMBOO Platform to generate CBAM-compliant carbon data, document their analysis, share mandatory information securely, produce required reports and map their future tax exposure. CBAMBOO’s long-term goal is to help firms navigate product-level carbon prices, signals that will dictate the future of global trade. The CBAMBOO Platform will give decision-makers the tools they need to tackle their supply chain emissions and thereby accelerate the decarbonisation of industry. ✅ Confirmed: CBAM charges will apply above a 50 ton net weight threshold when the tax begins next year. At a press conference introducing the Omnibus simplification package, EU Commissioners also confirmed that CBAM charges for imports in 2026 will not need to be paid for until 2027. The announcement aligns with leaked draft proposals, first reported by Dan Maleski of Redshaw Advisors Ltd Advisors last weekend. The changes mean that around 90% of companies will now be exempted from CBAM reporting, yet the measure will still ensure that more than 99% of emissions are covered, Wopke Hoekstra, EU climate commissioner, said. The announcement offers greater regulatory certainty around CBAM liabilities. Businesses that remain in scope should start preparing now for the Definitive Period that starts in January 2026. 🚨 Major news this week for companies facing CBAM, as the Commission releases the biggest shake-up to the system since it began. My take? This is all about refining and focusing CBAM – making it stronger and clearer, while cutting out a lot of bureaucracy where that would have a low impact. CBAM will go ahead: on time, as planned, in January 2026. And we now know a lot more about how to get ready for that. Link to the full text in the comments. We will publish our full analysis very soon!

Taiwan is set to formulate a CBAM proposal by the end of 2025, in alignment with the EU CBAM upcoming implementation. Peng Chi-ming (彭啟明), Minister of Environment, has announced that further details will be revealed in the summer. With carbon fees being introduced for domestic manufacturers this year, Taiwan is considering adopting a similar approach to the EU’s, aiming to ensure a level playing field with imports. This is especially relevant for sectors like cement, where a third of the supply is imported from Vietnam. As the EU ramps up efforts to collaborate on global carbon pricing, Taiwan is signalling its intention to join an emerging coalition of actors using trade to drive their climate goals forward. 🔗:https://lnkd.in/ePNVBwYM

While further CBAM updates should be released on 26 February, a switch to a CO₂ based de minimis has been confirmed at the CBAM for Climate conference. Read Gabriel Rozenberg's insights on the matter 👇
The EU Commission has now confirmed it's looking to change the #CBAM minimum compliance threshold to a carbon weight equivalent instead of a €150 shipment value for CBAM-covered goods, according to Gerassimos Thomas who spoke at an event in Paris yesterday. What could this look like? I talked to Gabriel Rozenberg at CBAMBOO and Dan Maleski at Redshaw Advisors Ltd about what plans the EU Commission has and how this could affect SMEs. There will be more updates to the CBAM as EU officials review extending the scope and potentially including more downstream products throughout this year. 🇫🇷 The #CBAMforClimate conference in Paris felt like a reassertion of the importance of CBAM by the French government. It showcased a range of excellent speakers whose consistent theme was the need to simplify CBAM while expanding its climate ambitions. My video summary here👇 The only disappointment of the day was that there was so little time to chat with the many CBAM experts and stakeholders in the room.

🚨 News from the Paris CBAM Conference just now: Gerassimos Thomas confirms for the first time that the new CBAM de minimis will be measured on a CO₂ basis, not a euro basis. "We are doing this in terms of CO2 and not in terms of money," he tells the conference. This is in line with the exclusively report by CBAMBOO last week that the planned de minimis is an annual 100 tCO₂e on a weight-equivalent basis. Keep following CBAMBOO for more updates from today's high level event!

Our CEO Gabriel Rozenberg will be attending the high-level event on CBAM in Paris next Wednesday. The conference will bring together European policymakers, industry representatives, and experts to discuss issues raised by the transitional period as well as future directions. We are looking forward to hearing the valuable insights on how to enhance CBAM ahead of the definitive period next year! Follow CBAMBOO to stay tuned.
