Enjoyed the opportunity to represent Civil Engineering Contractors Association (National) at today's Employment Rights Bill Committee meeting in Portcullis House. I hope I gave a reasonable summary of the views of members relating to the Bill. But I did also try to press the point that the Bill has wide ramifications, and many businesses may be unaware of how it will affect them. Also keen to address particular issues relating to redundancy and unfair dismissal.

This is just a quick reminder that CECA is running a free webinar on Wednesday - open to both members and non-members - on how diabetes affects construction workers, the impact on site safety, and what employers can do about it. We've been at the Trafford & Stockport College Group today for a slightly damp session with the mobile plant simulator. CECA North West's Alison Shea and Chris Jackson have supported today and colleagues from ERIC WRIGHT CIVIL ENGINEERING LIMITED, George Cox Ltd, V. J. Donegan and Co. Ltd., CITB and Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (CICES) will be onsite later this week to help promote #constructioncareers to the students.
