Cerebral Palsy Cymru
Fundraising
Cerebral Palsy Cymru is a national centre of excellence in Wales for babies and children who have cerebral palsy.
About us
Cerebral Palsy Cymru is Wales’ leading charity for babies and children who have cerebral palsy. We provide specialist therapy and support to families and children across Wales living with cerebral palsy. Our mission is to improve the quality of life of all children in Wales living with cerebral palsy. At Cerebral Palsy Cymru, we focus on the ability, not the disability. Cerebral palsy is the most common physical disability in children in the world, and it is estimated that every 5 days, a baby is born in Wales who will have the condition. As a registered charity, we need to raise £1.5M every year to continue to provide our current level of service. 80% of this total comes from fundraising activities such as regular donations, gifts in wills, fundraising events and the income from our charity shops. We know that the more money we raise, the more families and children we can see. Because we know – we can make a life-changing difference.

This week marks the end of our three-year grant from the Masonic Charitable Foundation. The grant of £59,400 has helped fund specialist therapy sessions for babies at high risk of cerebral palsy, who are on our early intervention programme, Better Start, Better Future. Over the three years the programme has supported 100’s of babies at high risk of cerebral palsy, and their families, giving them all the best start in life possible. Babies are now being referred to our centre much younger, sometimes just weeks old, which means we have greater opportunity to positively influence their outcomes due to the early plasticity of the brain. We are also increasingly asked to present our early intervention work to healthcare professionals nationally and internationally. We are so very grateful for the support of the Masonic Charitable Foundation during this time, helping us achieve a better future for children and families living with cerebral palsy. Thank you, we hope we work with you again!

🌟📣 We did it! 📣🌟 A massive thank you to everyone who supported our Big Give Christmas Challenge 2024! We are delighted to share that, with gift aid, we have raised an incredible total of £33,938.25 to help fund our specialist Family Support Service through our ‘Glenys Evans Family Support Fund’. What a special way to mark Glenys’ last day before retirement. ❤️

Chester was born at 27+1 weeks very unexpectedly and was delivered at home by his dad, weighing just 1.18kg. He was rushed into hospital and although at first he seemed to be breathing okay on his own, within 24 hours he had stopped and had to be resuscitated. After 102 days in NICU, Chester arrived home on oxygen. After hearing about Cerebral Palsy Cymru whilst discussing Chester’s coming home plan with their consultant, Chester’s parents were contacted by our Family Support Coordinator, Glenys. By making a donation to our 2024 Big Give Christmas Challenge, you can help us to continue providing vital support to families like Chester’s. We have currently raised £22,290 and we have only until midday tomorrow to reach our target of £30,000! Rose was born on New Year's Eve 2022. When she was 4 days old, Rose collapsed and had to be resuscitated. No one could say what this would mean for Rose going forward, but her parents were told that early intervention would be crucial in trying to take advantage of the brain's plasticity at Rose's young age. Rose’s family is one of the many families that have massively benefitted from the 1-1 support and Better Start Playgroup that is offered through our Family Support Service. This Christmas, you can make a difference for families like Rose's. By making a donation to our 2024 Big Give Christmas Challenge, you can help us to continue providing vital support to parents and families caring for a child with cerebral palsy.
