This week, Dipak Mistry, our Strategic Business Development Director, addressed the business case for competitive hydrogen and ammonia production by 2030 in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) at the Connecting Hydrogen MENA 2025 conference in Dubai. The conference is one of the largest and most influential hydrogen events in region and attracted an audience of industry leaders, policy makers and innovators to discuss ways to accelerate the hydrogen economy, exports, and production.    Dipak delivered a keynote entitled ‘Value chain perspectives: Technology for competitive green ammonia production’ which addressed the business case and real-world operating advantages of producing green ammonia using low temperature Solid Oxide Electrolyser Cell (SOEC) technology.    His speech outlined how the MENA region has the opportunity to competitively produce ammonia and localise manufacture of electrolysers, to decarbonise the hard-to-abate sectors and maximise value creation in the region. The MENA region has a huge potential for renewable energy generation and it has established global shipping ports for export.   Dipak spoke to the advantages of Ceres’ best-in-class SOEC technology that delivers hydrogen at high system efficiencies and low-cost. Furthermore, he pointed to the operating advantages of Ceres SOEC technology, such as its variable renewable energy load following capability and ability to operate in hot ambient climates without additional cooling systems. Dipak also pointed to benefits of Ceres’ technology licensing model, that enables manufacturers in region to localise and scale this highly differentiated technology to support the ‘Make in MENA’ strategic agenda, maximising local value creation and maintaining energy security by minimising the need to import critical equipment.
