Homebound from a great Scottish Federation of Housing Associations conference. Thanks to all who came along to listen to our musings on all things politics and media, and for your wonderful feedback. Housing associations play a vital role in our housing sector, and deliver real impact across communities in Scotland. They are integral to ending the housing emergency and that story must be told! Congratulations to SFHA on a successful event. …and now on to another event - the annual Street Soccer Gala Dinner in Glasgow, which I know will be just as brilliant, bringing the power of sport to support people in Scotland and beyond. I look forward to catching up with my fellow Street Soccer Scotland trustees very shortly.

Great to be at the Scotsman Conferences and Events Sustainable Scotland, Green Skills Conference in Aberdeen today. ❌ No shying away from fundamental skills and the transition challenges, but huge optimism around renewable opportunities in the North East and beyond. 🔧 By 2050, the UK energy sector needs to recruit 400,000 people to fill new roles and replace workforce leavers. The scale of this task and the associated economic opportunity can be under appreciated. 💡 Clear need for better, sustained and collaborative communication about Scotland’s leadership in this next phase for the enemy industry. 🏴 Sector positivity is there, even if we’re not always bullish enough about articulating it. #Renewables #Communications #Energytransition

Senior partner Sabina Kadić-Mackenzie features in today’s Scottish Daily Mail. As well as working incredibly hard with and for our clients, Sabina is vice chair of Beyond Srebrenica. The charity works to raise awareness of the Bosnian Genocide, and to ensure that the victims, survivors and the truth are honoured. Anyone who has met her, knows that Sabina is very open about her experiences and a passionate advocate for justice. Those who haven’t been fortunate to hear her speak about this first hand, can read Sabina’s powerful testimony in today’s edition of the Mail.
Journalist Annie Brown joined us last week on a delegation to Sarajevo and Srebrenica. In today’s Scottish Daily Mail she writes about her experience, and that of Sabina Kadić-Mackenzie, vice chair of Beyond Srebrenica. In Sabina’s own words: “Genocide and acts of hatred happen to ordinary people. “I think it’s important to remember though that ordinary people make them happen. “To this day, most of the “ordinary people” who perpetrated the atrocities in Srebrenica and across Bosnia are walking free; often in the neighbourhoods where the horrors took place against ordinary families like mine who were one day just living their lives and the next, fleeing to save themselves. “Healing will only happen if we recognise the past, learn from it and hold accountable those who, to this day deny genocide ever happened. Without that, never again is just an empty promise.”
