Designing Desire – The New Era of Luxury Flagships 👜 Our Senior Strategist, Mike Tristram recently sat down with Katie Baron from Stylus to explore the evolution of luxury flagships for their latest report, Luxury Flagships: New Languages. "Gen Z and millennials are gravitating towards icons over novelty and tuning out of the oversaturation of trends and short-term fads; instead valuing intriguing brand provenance." As highlighted in the report, one standout example that epitomises this shift is the Saint Laurent Babylone bookstore, inspired by Yves Saint Laurent’s 1970 Rue de Babylone duplex. Curated by the brand's current Creative Director; it sells rare books, out-of-print publications, art pieces, and vinyl records. A space that pays homage to the brand's Founder – continuing this narrative in a unique and intimate setting. This concept proves that heritage still matters. Fictionalised spatial experiences like this not only celebrate a brand's lore but also keep its allure alive for future generations. The stakes have never been higher for the watch industry ⌚ Last week’s announcement that Watches and Wonders 2025 will be the largest edition yet, underscores the industry's push to stay relevant and compelling amidst shifting purchase drivers and a competitive landscape. This timely evolution calls for brands to push the boundaries - delivering immersive experiences that resonate deeply with audiences. When we partnered with Nixon for their BASELWORLD exhibition, we did exactly that. Inspired by the brand’s roots in surf culture, we created the ‘Horizon Line’ concept, an experiential showcase designed to immerse visitors, head first, into the brand’s world. With a half-height blue horizon wall and an RFID-reactive “watch wave,” we ditched traditional display cases for a hands-on, high-energy exhibition experience that captured the thrill-seeking spirit of Nixon’s products: https://lnkd.in/eCX3rMx5 As brands gear up for Watches and Wonders 2025, the stakes are clear. But while certain brands have experienced a slowdown, the broader narrative tells us a lot about shifting consumer expectations... There’s now a clear, and growing, demand for authentic quality, meaningful craftsmanship, and sustainable practices that resonate beyond fleeting trends. Brands like Hermès and Prada Group have demonstrated resilience and growth by staying rooted to these values, showing that focusing on heritage and integrity can pay dividends even when the market softens.
