Excited to announce the nominees for the GREEN AWARDS in London on September 4th! This year, we have two categories: START-UP and CHANGEMAKER. Celebrating groundbreaking projects in sustainability in the category START-UP, our nominees are: 👉 Greyparrot: An AI waste analytics system that tracks and reports on objects in sorting facilities using cameras to recognize 89+ types of waste in real-time. This technology helps improve recycling rates and reduces landfill waste, with over 25 billion waste objects tracked across 20+ countries in 2023. Companies like Veolia and Suez rely on their data. 👉 Polymateria: Aiming to stop plastic pollution before it reaches the oceans, Polymateria is the first biodegradable and recyclable plastic technology. Partnering with Indorama, they are scaling to deploy millions of tons of their tech, addressing the annual leakage of 100 million tonnes of plastic. They focus on innovation, regulatory action, and consumer education to reduce pollution. 👉 Cheesecake Energy Ltd: Offering modular compressed air energy storage for commercial and industrial customers, their system turns intermittent renewables into on-demand power. Delighted to announce we’re welcoming 15 new start-ups to this year’s Amazon Sustainability Accelerator.   From pre-loved fashion hubs to fast-charging electric vehicle batteries, this year’s impressive group were handpicked from 100s of applications in the circular economy, energy and packaging categories. I’m particularly excited about the three UK start-ups joining us… ACS (Advanced Clothing Solutions), Cheesecake Energy Ltd, and Breathe Battery Technologies. Representing Glasgow, Nottingham, and London respectively, they are bringing some very cool ideas to table - you can see the some of the teams, facilities and leaders in the pictures below.   The Accelerator has already made a phenomenal impact. Since launching in 2022 we have supported 25+ world-class sustainability focused start-ups across Europe, provided $1m in grants and credits, and helped businesses increase their total sales by an average of 700% + raise over £15m. Take Accelerator alumni SURI for example – a UK-based sustainable toothbrush company which has now increased gross revenue £10m+ in the last 12 months.
