We had an exciting day recently here at our roastery. After years of buying directly, we took things a step further last year by importing over 90% of our own #coffee. Here's a look at our latest shipment arriving from our long-time coffee producer in Peru. With costs at record highs, having full control of our #supplychain became essential to keep paying fair prices to our producers while maintaining quality and stable customer pricing.

What better way to celebrate winning Le Crunch than with a Chimney Fire Coffee tasting! 🏉☕ Last Thursday, ‘we’ (sadly I missed it due to the flu) had the privilege of giving the England Rugby team a crash course in all things coffee - from growing, harvesting, and processing to importing, roasting, and brewing. If the boys take the win this Saturday, you’ll know who to thank for teaching them how to brew the perfect pre-game coffee (unless you’re supporting Scotland, in which case we had nothing to do with it). Keep an eye out - you might spot Nathan and Sam on the England Rugby YouTube channel too!

Our outstanding Ops Manager Row Baker brews up a storm in our latest #YouTube video and blog, featuring one of the cheapest ways to brew delicious coffee at home: The Pour-Over, or V60. She shows us two different recipes - one basic, and one kinda nerdy. 🤓 Both feature our tasty February Discovery #Coffee (more on this below). We promise it'll be the most relaxing ten minutes of your day… ttps://https://lnkd.in/eHjaJwmA

We know that #decafcoffee is growing – but how can brands distinguish their non-caffeinated options from existing products? We asked Sam Pearce, Community Manager at Chimney Fire Coffee in Surrey, UK. He provided us with #tips for designing the #packaging of decaf coffee bags. It wasn't long ago that decaf was, let's say… a taboo subject in the #coffee world. Full of nasty chemicals and lacking the pick-me-up sensation of 'proper coffee', decaf was the inferior cousin of the drink we know and love. So what's changed? In recent years, techniques for decaffeination have vastly improved, removing the need for unnatural chemicals and most importantly barely affecting the flavour of the beans. The result is an increase in genuinely delicious decaf coffees and growth in the industry which mirrors that of non-alcoholic beer. Recently, much has been made about the #healthbenefits of your morning cup of Joe, and who are we to disagree. Benefits such as antioxidant and nutrient content, improved metabolic flexibility, and mood-boosting, remain even with caffeine removed. Plus, if you are looking to reduce your caffeine intake, you can always mix your caffeinated coffee partly with decaf (we recommend 50/50 to start) to keep the same great flavour but without the punch! https://lnkd.in/eitiqaXM

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!🎄 Thank you so much for all your support, social shares, and most importantly your enthusiasm about our #coffee. Much has changed in the past year, but we are proud that our business has grown sustainably while staying true to our core values. Despite ongoing uncertainty and rising costs, we’ve remained committed to purchasing the same high quality coffee year-on-year. This consistency has provided a reliable and sustainable income for our growers and producers, some of whom we’ve been working with for almost six years. Our team has grown to 12, and from our home on Denbies Wine Estate we’ve imported, roasted, and distributed over 60 tonnes of coffee. Highlights of the year included the release of our 2023/24 Impact Report; launching our latest packaging designs; and exciting new coffee such as the Revival Espresso Blend, 12 delicious and varied Discovery Coffees, and our 2024 Christmas Blend. Another highlight was being shortlisted for the Surrey Business Awards Company of the Year. We also took our Christmas and summer parties to the next level! While challenges persist in the coffee industry, we remain dedicated to responsible growth, keeping our customers and producers at the heart of every decision. We are incredibly grateful to our amazing community of coffee lovers, partners, and suppliers, for their unwavering support through these changing times. See you in 2025.
